APPLICATION NOTEAN-0104May 2004Announcing a Doorphone Visitor Call(Loud Ringer)For <strong>Norstar</strong>/BST DoorphonesThe <strong>Norstar</strong>/BST Doorphone can be programmed to providepage chimes and/or to ring telephones when its call button hasbeen pressed. Sometimes, however, it may be desirable toannounce that a visitor has arrived with (<strong>for</strong> example) a ringer ina warehouse. This would allow personnel to simply answer thedoor if they are nearby or to differentiate between intercom anddoorphone calls.The optional Door Opening Controller (available from <strong>Nortel</strong>Networks) is capable of providing a dry-contact closure wheneverthe call button of the <strong>Norstar</strong> Doorphone is pressed. Thiscan be used to activate the 1825PM Duet Plus ringer (or the1826P Talking Duet Plus ringer with programmable announcements).In the diagram at right, power supply connections are omitted<strong>for</strong> clarity.
