You must pass all of the independent living modules with a score of 70or above on the quizzes.2. You must complete at least 60 hours of community service.3. You must maintain employment for at least 30 days.4. You must save enough money to pay your apartment and utilitydeposits and your first month’s rent.Independent Living Financial AidIf you finish Independent Living Preparation and have to live on your own, TJJDmay be able to give you some money (for up to six months) until you can takecare of yourself. Ask your case manager or parole officer about the rules to getfinancial aid.It is important for you to know that if you get money from TJJD for rent, you areconsidered on intensive parole supervision. That means you have to let yourcase manager or parole officer in to your place to search for contraband whetheror not you are home. Also, in order to get money, you have to sign a contractwith TJJD that will list all of the rules.86
