And he said unto them, Verily I say untoyou, That there be some of them that stand here,which shall not taste of death, till they have seen thekingdom of God come with power."God never promises any thing but he gives anearnest of it even in this life. Christ, by a foretasteof his glory, confirms the belief of his incarnation,strengthens the hope of the resurrection and eternallife, awakens the love of truth, takes off the scandalof the cross, and encourages to the practice of selfdenial,and all Christian perfection, wherein he hadjust now instructed his disciples." 2. ^ And after six days, Jesus taketh with himPeter, and James, and John, and leadeth them upinto an high mountain apart by themselves :was transfigured before them."and heAfter the six days of this present life, the eternalSabbath begins upon the holy mountainof heaven;where Christ entire, consisting of the Head and allthe members, of Jesus and the church, shallbe perfectlytransfigured in glory. O mountain of Sion,city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem, churchof the fitst-born who are written in heaven, when willit be that we shall approach thee ! Whenwill thatglorious transfiguration be accomplished, which shallchange this mortal body, and fashion it like unto theglorious body of our blessed Saviour !
