9 The teaching staffIn total, in 2011, <strong>ULK</strong> had 273 lecturers (permanent and part time). The <strong>ULK</strong> teaching staffstands as follows (see their names and academic grades in the appendix 2): Full Pr<strong>of</strong>essors : 4 Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essors : 5 Senior lecturers : 33 Lecturers : 217 Assistant Lecturers : 14--------Total 27310. Cooperation<strong>ULK</strong> entertains cooperation with National and foreign institutions being public or private.There is exchange <strong>of</strong> lecturers and common tasks at the level <strong>of</strong> research (OSSREA),symposium and seminars.Cooperation with other foreign universities goes on. Among them we can mention: <strong>University</strong><strong>of</strong> Kwazulu Natal, university <strong>of</strong> Pretoria, Tshwane <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> technology, Wits <strong>University</strong>,Moi <strong>University</strong>, Makerere <strong>University</strong>, Kyambogo <strong>University</strong>, Nkumba <strong>University</strong>, Open<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Tanzania, Dar Es Salaam <strong>University</strong>, Université Catholique de Louvain,<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Ireland, Université de Lyon and some universities <strong>of</strong> Netherlands. Thatcollaboration is mainly focused on the exchange <strong>of</strong> information, documentation, supervising ourassistant-lecturers, associate lecturers for their post- graduate (PhD and Masters) programmes.11. EntrepreneurshipOur development plan focuses on the managerial and entrepreneurship training <strong>of</strong> our students.The latter learn to have a great deal <strong>of</strong> initiatives and innovation to start small enterprises thanksto micro-finances that are promoted in Rwanda. It is in this connection that <strong>ULK</strong> has a CarreerAdvisory Centre which provides guidance to students by connecting them to various institutionshaving experience in the domains <strong>of</strong> their interest.12. FINANCINGTodate, <strong>ULK</strong> has never benefited from any financial support whatever. It chiefly operatesthanks to the financial contribution <strong>of</strong> its Founder, to bank credits and modest academic feespaid by students, which vary for <strong>Kigali</strong> Campus, between 130,000 Frw (±215$ US) and220,000 Frw (± 365$ US) per term or every four months. However, let us observe that the<strong>University</strong> has benefited from NUFFIC support in line with the NPT project (the Netherlands),namely 11 scholarships, 140 computers sets and 200 books. The Ministry <strong>of</strong> Education hasgiven 5 560 books to <strong>ULK</strong>.
