14.2. Expansion <strong>of</strong> <strong>ULK</strong>The second strategic plan is the expansion <strong>of</strong> the campus at Gisozi. <strong>ULK</strong> has a developmentplan which will consists in establishing new Faculties as well as departments in line with themarket demand. This development plan will be sustained by the development <strong>of</strong> infrastructureswhich will consist <strong>of</strong> construction <strong>of</strong> new buildings. <strong>ULK</strong> envisages to countinuously expand itsreception capacity by building new premises, classrooms, residences for students, etc) and therecruitment <strong>of</strong> full time lecturers with the aim <strong>of</strong> increasing sensibly the number <strong>of</strong> students incoming years. <strong>ULK</strong> envisage also furnishing its playgrounds with the aim <strong>of</strong> promoting sportsfor the interest <strong>of</strong> its students and employees.14.3. Future Perspective- Increasing the students reception capacity by the construction <strong>of</strong> another big premisecomplex comprising <strong>of</strong>fices, auditoriums, amphitheatres;- Construction <strong>of</strong> playground (Volleyball, basketball, tennis, football);- Construction <strong>of</strong> hostels for male and female students, etc;- A sensible increase <strong>of</strong> the library titles, the equipment <strong>of</strong> the Computer Sciences- Centre;- Promotion <strong>of</strong> applied research in order to propose solutions to the community- Problems, and;- Masters programmes in various domains.15. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES (COURSES) 201115.1. Faculty <strong>of</strong> Economics and Business StudiesPreliminariesThe choice <strong>of</strong> that Faculty has been dictated by several important factors such as:- The response to the request <strong>of</strong> the quasi-majority <strong>of</strong> prospective students;- The presence, in the country, <strong>of</strong> lecturers qualified in Economic Sciences;- The concern to provide rapidly to the country human resources mastering several sectors<strong>of</strong> economy, accounting principles and techniques <strong>of</strong> management.Courses curricula generally aim at providing the student with a solid training in Economics andBusiness Studies as well as in rural development. The student is prepared to it by a teachingtending to favour the adequation between the education provided and local, national andregional realities.Theoretical courses, practical works and internships allow the student to acquire and masterconcepts, fundamental principles and methods proper to economics, Finance, Accounting andrural development.
