Untilrecently, <strong>ULK</strong> had 498 computers, 5 computer labs with free access internet connection toadequately transmit knowledge in a classroom situation with the use <strong>of</strong> ICT. In order to promoteinternet based research, recently <strong>ULK</strong> has doubled the number <strong>of</strong> computers by buying 500brand new computers that will serve in the digital library. <strong>ULK</strong> (<strong>Kigali</strong> Campus) is nowequipped with 998 computers.13.5. Cafeterias<strong>ULK</strong> has 3 big cafeterias as well as a restaurant well equipped.Two cafeterias serve studentsand the third serves lectures and administrative agents.13.6. GeneratorsIn addition to the Electrogaz light (electricity), <strong>ULK</strong> has 3 generators <strong>of</strong> 200KVA each, used forclassrooms and <strong>of</strong>fices light in case <strong>of</strong> failure <strong>of</strong> power supplied by EWASA.13.7. Water TanksIn order to be autonomous with current water (besides toilets, taps and sinks placed in all theclassrooms) two big water tanks with 200 M3 and 1000 M3 have been built.)13.8. Stationery Shops<strong>ULK</strong> has two well equipped stationery’s shops facilitating students to obtain necessary articlesthey need during study time. Both stationery shops <strong>of</strong>fer also photocopying service foradministrative tasks (photocopying exam questionnaires, syllabus and other documents) as wellas students’ materials.13.9. Automobile Sets<strong>ULK</strong> has 18 vehicles (four at the campus <strong>of</strong> Gisenyi): 3 pick-ups for construction, 2 big buses, 2dumper-trucks, 6 minibuses for personnel transportation, one car, one Land cruiser for serviceneed displacement and one jeep land-cruiser for the President.14. DEVELOPMENT PLANThe achievements <strong>of</strong> <strong>ULK</strong>, during fifteen years <strong>of</strong> its existence are outstanding. However, the<strong>University</strong> expects to go further in its development activities in terms <strong>of</strong> infrastructuresdevelopment and training <strong>of</strong> the teaching staff.14.1. TrainingRegarding the training <strong>of</strong> the teaching staff, the <strong>University</strong> has already started cooperationprogramme with other foreign universities for the training <strong>of</strong> assistants and prospective PhDholders (<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Natal, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pretoria, Tshwane university <strong>of</strong> technology, Wits<strong>University</strong>, Moi <strong>University</strong>, Makerere <strong>University</strong>, Kampala International <strong>University</strong>, NKUMBA
