Johnny Ritz lit up Lawrenceburg, TNin memory of Andy AdkinsJoe Cotten and Johnny Ritz was honored to have won the Andy Adkins Memorial Trophy in the Riders’ Cup Walking Horse Stake. This issuch a special trophy to have won. <strong>The</strong>y were met by Chad Cotten, Mac Benham, Amber Lewis, Colby and Katie Cotten, and Andrea Baker.LAWRENCEBURG, TN- <strong>The</strong> Lawrenceburg Lions Club presentedtheir Fourth Annual Tennessee Walking Horse Show locatedat the Rotary Park in Lawrenceburg, TN on Friday, June 8,2012. <strong>The</strong> show started at 6:30 pm with the presentation of theflags and the invocation. <strong>The</strong> judge for the 29-class event was theHonorable Brandye Mills from Pinson, AL, while Jack Greeneworked hard in center ring capturing the blue ribbon action shots.<strong>The</strong> show affiliated with PRIDE HIO and the government was inattendance, but didn’t decrease the support of the show. BobbyBelew and Greg Johnston were pleased with the turnout.Everyone came out to support the show both horse people andlocals. <strong>The</strong> concession stands filled with homemade pies, whitebeans and corn bread and other yummy food really put smiles onpeople’s faces. One of the most memorable classes of the nightwas the Amateur Three Year Old Stallion class. Chase Adkins,Andy Adkins’ older brother, showed and won with ConfederateJose, a horse selected by Andy and owned by their grandparents,John and Becky Shape. A large group of friends and family cameto the hometown show to support the ride.<strong>The</strong> final class of the night was the Riders’ Cup Walking HorseChampionship class. Five entries went through the gate to competefor top honors. First in the class was the Hoyte Eakes ownedentry, Johnny Ritz, with Joe Cotten aboard. This duo adds anotherwin to their resume and claimed the first leg of the Andy AdkinsMemorial Trophy. Following in reserve and leaving with the redribbon was George W. McClintock with Brock Tillman for owners,Rick and Marla Lovett.
