LeicesterLE3 5LH.I've got a necklace with aintricately designed tombstonehanging on it. with the words"R.I.P. See Ya There"engraved upon the stone andtwo earrings, one which is inthe form of a large viciouslooking battleaxe and theother which is the shape of asmall grinning skull.Reider Design have alsogone into 25mm miniaturefigures suitable for F.R.P.Their range is called DungeonDwellers and they include ablister pack of basicadventurers, consisting of amagic user, cleric, thief andtwo fighters, plus OrcWolvery, consisting of twocharging wolves with separateore riders.• Gamesday is one of thelargest meetings for F.R.P.ersin the U.K. and it takes placeOnce a year. It's run by GamesWorkshop and is the placewhere you can come and lookat all the new games, playgames you have never seenbefore, meet loads of peoplewith similar hobbies and muchmore. There are alsodemonstrations of live roleplaying, paintingcompetitions, artists drawingyour favourite F.R.P.characters and competitions toenter. Furthermore, you willfind that Games Workshop tryto sell you as many of theirproducts as possibly can. This year it took place onthe weekend of the 9110/1IOctober at the RoyalI lortieultural Hall. Victoria,London.Over the weekend therewere a lot of C+ VG readersaround and I had a chat tomost of them. One major event of notewas that there was theunofficial P.B.M. meet with alot of players from K.J.C.Games, Sloth and Ae's allchatting away. The hall was quite full andgetting a place in a game wasdifficult, but not impossible. After three days. I felt that,on the whole, Gamesday was adisappointment. There werenot many tables where activeparticipation was possible. The food was as had as everand even the independenttrade stands had been vastlyreduced in numbers, but to behonest that came as nosurprise taking into accountGames Workshop's policytowards their rivals.• One of the highlights ofGatnesday for me was meetingthe editors of various fanzinesand chatting to them for awhile. I managed to "acquire"a couple and promised them areview, so here goes:U.D. i90p): The biggestfanzine of the lot with 60interestingly filled pages.Editors, Ben Gooddale andGordon McLennan arecertainly no•strangers to the'zinc scene and have beenaround for many years. Theyhave music columns, P.B.M.reviews, articles on F.R.P. andscience fiction. It also runs aP.B.M. itself, which is uniqueto say the least. It is wellprinted and the front cover isabsolutely brilliant. Wellworth buying.Bone Of Contention 1,50p):This 'zinc was the funniest. Ittakes the micky out of a ratherinfamous daily gutter presspaper very well indeed. However, it also does a greatjob of parodying D-f- a Myfavourite article was theinterview with a imaginaryThrash/speed metal band. Itmakes the Comic Strip's BadNews band look stylish. It alsocovers F.P.B. and P.B.M. andhas very good artwork. To mymind the best out of the lot.Buy it!The Blue Shaboo (40p): Notmy cup of tea at all I'm afraid.Badly printed, lack ofinteresting content and toodiverse for my liking. It hastwo redeeming features.namely the review of theF.R.P, Warhamnter FantasyRules and the discussion onAnarchy. but overall it's prettypoor.Brain Damage (54): GoodF.R.P. coverage, it even hasit's own fantasy continent andthe rules to run it. A veryinteresting read, but theprinting quality varies frompage to page. making it hardto read at times. I agreed witha lot of what was said and likethe style of the short, chattyreviews jumping from recordsto fanzines on one page. It hasa silly game called Sheep KillerFiends and after a cursoryglance it looks like it couldwell be fun to play. It also hasa few quizzes that areenjoyable. Highlyrecommended.Daughters Of Dool Iliked this 'zinc a lot. Goodcover, excellent letters pageand quite a few stories of ahigh quality. It has a Call OfCthullui scenario, which is setin India and quite unique.Reading the scenario made mewant to play it immediately,GLARG! (60pl: The smallestand wackiest of them all. TheYoung Ones of fanzines!! Iloved the solo adventure WhatThe Hell Do I Do With TheseHippy Trousers, which iscrazy. The editor must bemad, honest! The reviews ofthe F.R.P. material on theother hand are well writtenand informative_ The artworkis weird to say the least, butunderstandable.96
