Scholarships <strong>and</strong> Financial AidDCAD Merit-Based ScholarshipMerit-Based Scholarships <strong>of</strong> up to $8,000 per year are awarded based on anapplicant’s academic <strong>and</strong> artistic skill at the time <strong>of</strong> acceptance to the <strong>College</strong>.The deadline to be considered for a Merit-Based Scholarship is March15 for the fall semester <strong>and</strong> December 1 for the spring semester. Scholarshipsare renewable for a student’s second year as long as he or she maintainsfull-time status <strong>and</strong> satisfactory academic st<strong>and</strong>ing.DCAD <strong>Art</strong> Award ScholarshipEach year, one $5,000 tuition scholarship, renewable for the second year <strong>of</strong>study is available to <strong>Delaware</strong> high school seniors who intend to enroll atDCAD. <strong>Delaware</strong> residents enrolled as a high school senior or home-schoolequivalent with at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale are eligible toapply. The deadline to apply is April 1 <strong>and</strong> applicants may request an applicationfrom the DCAD Admissions Office or from their high school art teacherafter January 1 <strong>of</strong> their senior year.James P. Lecky Presidential ScholarshipThe James P. Lecky Presidential Scholarship is awarded to an accepted fulltimestudent who demonstrates outst<strong>and</strong>ing academic <strong>and</strong> artistic ability,<strong>and</strong> financial need. The scholarship is automatically renewed for a secondyear <strong>of</strong> full-time enrollment as long as the student maintains a minimumcumulative GPA <strong>of</strong> 2.7 <strong>and</strong> demonstrates continued financial need.High School <strong>Art</strong> Exhibition ScholarshipEach spring, the DCAD Admissions Office hosts an annual exhibition <strong>of</strong>juried high school student artwork selected by each student’s art teachers.Pieces submitted by high school seniors are reviewed <strong>and</strong> the scholarshiprecipients receive a partial DCAD tuition scholarship.Financial AidStudents <strong>and</strong> their families may be eligible for a wide range <strong>of</strong> financial aidopportunities including school-supported scholarships <strong>and</strong> grants, government<strong>and</strong> private grants, <strong>and</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> public <strong>and</strong> private loan programs.DCAD <strong>of</strong>fers financial aid in the form <strong>of</strong> college need-based grants, federal<strong>and</strong> state grants, loans <strong>and</strong> work study. Students must submit the Free Applicationfor Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for various forms<strong>of</strong> federal financial aid. The FAFSA determines the amount <strong>and</strong> what type <strong>of</strong>financial aid a student may receive. DCAD encourages students to submitthe FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1.
