For example, do not list junior dairy cattle and junior beef cattle on the same entry form. n Important: No entries will be accepted after Sept. 16. Exhibitors removing their animals from the barn prior to the posted release time shall forfeit all premiums. n Make your entries early using the entry form at the back of this book or online at www.ClevelandCountyFair.com. Space is assigned in the order entries are received, and the show is limited to available tie space which is 100 head. n No fee is required for entry in the junior show. In order to compete, the exhibitor must be capable of showing animals without assistance in the show ring. 2. Open to junior exhibitors 5-21 years of age (as of show date) residing in North Carolina and South Carolina. 3. Junior exhibitors must have fitted, cared for and been in possession of their entries for 30 days prior to the show. 4. Animals exhibited in the Junior Dairy Show are eligible for competition in the open show provided they are entered on a separate form under the same exhibitor’s name and number as in the junior show 7. An animal shown in the junior show shall not be entered in another exhibitor’s name in the open show. 8. Junior exhibits will show at the same time and with animals entered in the open show. When the judge completes each class, the ribbons will be presented and the placing recorded for the open show. The junior exhibitors will then step forward to determine their places in the junior show. 9. Juniors may not enter group classes. However, junior entries may be used to complete group classes in the open show provided they are owned by the same family or farm. Rules and regulations 1. Animals must be registered. Copies of registration papers should be available for inspection by the livestock superintendent, department directors or the show judge. 2. All animals must be in the possession of the exhibitor. They must be under the exhibitors care for thirty days prior to the opening day of the fair. 3. The management reserves the right of declining any entry. 4. Furthermore, the directors reserve the right to bar from competition: n Junior dairy cattle of decided poor conformation n Junior dairy cattle not fitted properly for the show n Junior dairy cattle not possessing sufficient merit to warrant recognition 5. Exhibitors are expected to: n Display their animals as directed by the superintendent and directors n Accept assigned tie spaces without controversy n Keep their animals and display area in attractive appearance n Cooperate with the department in every way such as may serve to increase the educational value of the show. 6. Exhibitors failing to promptly exhibit their animals in the arena to be rated by the judge as per schedule, shall forfeit the privilege of competition. Decorations with ribbons previously won by animals in the show shall be prohibited until after the awards have been made in their respective classes. Current Cleveland County Fair ribbons must be displayed. 7. Experienced judges shall pass on each class. 8. The judge shall determine proper placing in the absence of competition in any class. Should unsound, inferior or distinctly unworthy specimens be presented in competition, the Association shall be under no obligation to decorate them with ribbons or distribute prizes as scheduled. Merit alone shall justify recognition. 9. Feed and bedding must be furnished by the exhibitor. Care will be exercised to have all tie spaces clean and bedded with a suitable base material at the time of entry. However, the exhibitor will be expected to: n Provide onsite supervision of their animals n Keep the space they occupy in a clean and sanitary condition n Remove all litter or equipment promptly as the superintendent may direct 10. All juniors in charge of a herd of four or more animals exhibited in classes will automatically be entered in the Herdsmen’s contest (see the rules governing livestock). 11. There will be no classes offered or premiums awarded for any breed show with three or less animals entered in that show. These animals will be eligible to show in the commercial division. 12. The Cleveland County Fair Association shall not be responsible for any accident which may occur to, or by reason of any animals exhibited at the show. Also, the exhibitor shall hold the Cleveland County Fair blameless and indemnify the Cleveland County Fair against any legal proceedings arising from such actions.
