Insurance requirement for internationalstudentsThe purchase <strong>of</strong> health insurance is mandatory(i.e., a condition <strong>of</strong> enrollment) for all internationalstudents.All international students (both undergraduateand graduate) are assessed a fee each quarterfor enrollment in <strong>the</strong> Student Health InsurancePlan. The insurance fee is due at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong>enrollment. The fee is paid by <strong>the</strong> appointingdepartment or unit for teaching and researchassistants who are appointed 25% time or more.All o<strong>the</strong>r international students must ei<strong>the</strong>r pay<strong>the</strong> fee or waive out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> plan by showingpro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> comparable <strong>cover</strong>age under ano<strong>the</strong>rinsurance policy.In addition, international students mustpurchase insurance for any family member whoaccompanies <strong>the</strong>m to Santa Barbara.
