Pre – feasibility Report of M/s Agrasen Mines & Minerals, Jotpur Dolomite Mine 4.592 Hectare2.0 GEOLOGY, EXPLORATION AND RESERVES2.1 GeologyIn the area, the Dolomite of Saradih formations of Raipur group are present in the form of inlierswithin pink stromatolitic Limestone / shale sequence of the same formation. The exposures arepresent in the form of floating plains of Dolomite in soil cover. The Dolomite is gray colored (havingdifferent shades), compact, massive, fine to medium grained and hard. It breaks with subconchoidalfractures. Because of some Stromatolitic structures, its broken surface is uneven. Somethin stringers of argillaceous material are seen. No quartz or chert bands are seen in the samples. Some underground cavities are observed in the exposures on the slope of north direction. Thesecavities are filled either with clayey soil or laterite gravels, indicates presence of open fractures inDolomite formation. On the surface, the Dolomite shows typical elephant skin weathering. TheDolomites outcrops is observed all over in the open pits and trenches of the proposed area.Geologically, the applied area comes under the North extension of Baradwar, sub basin ofChhattisgarh basin (Chhattisgarh super group). This sub basin is situated in the East-Central part ofChhattisgarh sedimentary basin. Chhattisgarh basin consists of sub horizontally disposedsedimentary succession mostly of Sandstones and Shale, Limestone and Dolomite of upperProterozoic age. The generalized geological succession of the area is given as follows.2.2 Stratigraphical SuccessionCHHATTISGARH SUPERGROUPGroup Formation MemberIntrusivesDolerite dykeManiyari(70 m)Purple shale with dolomite, dolomitic limestoneand gypsumHirri (70 m+)Grey dolomite, argillaceous dolomiteTerenga Bilha Purple dolomitic argillite(180 m ?)
