Members meeting at TOS Offshore<br />
Another successful members meeting took place at T.O.S. - Transport & Offshore Services in<br />
Rotterdam on Wednesday 27 October <strong>2010</strong>. Kees Wagenaar, Managing Director of T.O.S.,<br />
gave an interesting presentation on the services and activities of T.O.S. as a worldwide<br />
supplier of nautical and technical personnel active in the areas of shipping, offshore,<br />
dredging, inland shipping and shore based jobs. Besides crewing T.O.S. is specialized in<br />
ship deliveries on own keel: sailing any ship to an agreed destination, with a complete<br />
T.O.S. crew and under T.O.S. management. Besides branch offices in Poland, Ukraine and<br />
the Czech Republic and agencies in the Philippines and Indonesia, T.O.S. recently started a<br />
joint venture in Brazil (TIM). Other <strong>IRO</strong> members were also given the opportunity to give<br />
a short company presentation: Stemar Engineering, Temporary Works Design, Niron Staal,<br />
Hatenboer-Water. <strong>IRO</strong> also invited Mrs. Kerry Sanderson, Agent General of the European<br />
Office of the Government of Western Australia to give a presentation on the business<br />
opportunities for the oil & gas industry in Western Australia as preparation for the trade<br />
mission to Perth in February 2011.<br />
Members meeting at Multimetaal<br />
On Wednesday 8 December <strong>2010</strong> a members meeting was organized at Multimetaal<br />
in Den Helder. Multimetaal was established in 1975 to provide construction design,<br />
prefabrication, in-house testing and certification, offshore support services and IRM<br />
(Inspection Research and Maintenance) to the oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, water<br />
and power industries. Arthur Hulsebos, Managing Director of Multimetaal, gave an<br />
introduction to the company of Multimetaal, which opened doors of its new building<br />
in June 2009. Hans Knijn, Sales Manager, gave a presentation on valve care and the<br />
importance of maintenance and its market. Marja Doedens, Managing Director of<br />
Maritime Campus Netherlands was invited by Multimetaal to give a presentation.<br />
The Netherlands Maritime Campus is a partnership between research institutions,<br />
educational institutions, entrepreneurs and governments with the objective to sustainably<br />
increase and strengthen the economic infrastructure in North Holland. Kees Visser,<br />
Alderman of the Municipality of Den Helder was invited to present the developments<br />
and business opportunities in Den Helder. Mr. Peter van Leeuwen, Ambassador of the<br />
Kingdom of the Netherlands to Baghdad was invited by <strong>IRO</strong> to give a presentation<br />
on business opportunities in the oil and gas industry in Iraq. His presentation showed<br />
that despite the negative image the country has due to safety issues, Iraq has a lot of<br />
potential. After the presentations, the participants were guided through the newly built<br />
company and construction site.<br />
<strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting at HSM<br />
On Tuesday 16 November <strong>2010</strong> the <strong>IRO</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting took place at HSM<br />
in Schiedam. HSM Offshore and HSM Steel Structures are both operating companies of<br />
the ANDUS Group. Since the early seventies HSM Offshore has completed numerous<br />
projects for the oil & gas industry and, more recently several projects for the offshore<br />
wind energy. Currently the satellite platform and jacket for the Chevron B13 field are<br />
under construction. The project started in November 2009 and will be completed in the<br />
summer of 2011. The scope of supply for HSM exists of the engineering, procurement,<br />
construction, installation and offshore hookup and commissioning. The current status of<br />
the project was shown during a site tour of the yard. The main items on the agenda for<br />
the <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting were the finances of the association. The financial result<br />
for 2009 was again positive. The 2009 annual accounts were approved. Expected is<br />
that <strong>2010</strong> will also be closed within budget. The budget for 2011 was approved, and<br />
it was decided that the membership fees remain unchanged. The (re)appointments of<br />
Board members were also discussed during the meeting. Members have approved the<br />
appointment of new, incoming board member Peter de Bruijne of Noble Drilling.<br />
The <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting was very well visited by 150 participants.<br />
