North Star Academy Honors Sponsors
CK TECHNOLOGIES, LOWES HARDWARE AND WALMART have supported the Academy through
monetary donations, their time, cookouts, t-shirts, and field trips. Representatives from the companies
were honored by the North Star Academy for their company’s efforts. James Bell, senior materials specialist,
and Carol Colna, human resources manager accepted the plaque for CK Technologies. Bryan Turney
received the plaque for Lowes Hardware. Karrah Dunn accepted the plaque for Walmart. David
Hayes, career development coordinator at North Surry High School said the sponsors provided opportunities
to broaden the students horizons through visits to the companies finding out first-hand what is needed
in the workplace.
CK Technologies was there to present awards for an art contest. Participating students submitted a healthcare
logo. The winning logo, by Jenna Upchurch, will be featured on Company Wellness information.
Jenna also was awarded $100.
