Mayberry Motor Inn
The Chamber Surprise Patrol arrived with the balloons, cookies and a basket
of candy to say “Thank You” to Alma Venable and the Mayberry Motor
Inn staff for being such supportive Chamber members! Owner, Alma
Venable had worked until after midnight the night before and was not available
at 9:00am, so the Chamber Surprise Patrol celebrated with Betty Mabe,
who was working the front desk. The Mayberry Motor Inn is an icon of
Mount Airy NC. The simplistic Inn features manicured grounds with a southern
gazebo, beautiful floral gardens, walking trails and a sparkling pool for
those hot summer days. The Inn has 27 units each with free wireless internet,
private bath, color TV and various others amenities including a continental
breakfast for the Inn’s guests. The
rooms are tastefully decorated and affordable
for the traveling visitor.

Surry County Board of
Education
The Chamber Surprise Patrol paid an unannounced visit to the central office of
the Surry County Board of Education, greeting Superintendent, Dr. Ashly
Hinson and the staff. The Chamber Surprise Patrol was able to meet and to
thank the staff for being such a great Chamber Member and for their continued
support and participation in Chamber programs! Thank you for all that you do
to inspire the young minds of our community!!!
The 2007-2008 North Carolina ABCs of Accountability recognized Surry County School
System for three (3) Schools of Distinction, and eleven (11) Schools of Progress.
Surry County Schools’ students earned $2.2 M in scholarships for the 2007-2008 school
year.
