2013 OLA TOURNAMENT GUIDELINESUSE OF A PLAYER OR BENCH STAFF UNDER SUSPENSIONThe use of a suspended player(s) will result in a forfeiture of the game plus a fine per player. Use ofsuspended player(s) in O.L.A. sanctioned tournaments will result in team disqualification and thecoaching staff suspended until dealt with by the OLASUSPENSION INFORMATIONPlayers and/or Bench Personnel who have received penalties calling for suspensions will be dealt withat the earliest possible time following the game.The Discipline Committee will conduct such interviews as may be necessary and render a decision asto the length of a suspension.The result of any decision must be communicated to the suspended party and their coach AT THETOURNAMENT by the Discipline Committee Chairman.Teams who have person(s) under suspension (from Zone play, previous tournaments etc.) MUSTindicate their names on the game sheet.Suspensions levied by the Tournament Discipline Committee must be reported to the respective ZoneDirector within 24 hoursTHE OLA FINE SHEETOne Fine Sheet must be made up for each incident and be signed by a Team Official when they returntheir dressing room keys or come to pick up the game sheet. Be sure to have them sign at this time andgive them their copy. THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY IMMEDIATELY. All game sheets and FineSheets MUST be sent to the OLA office within 7 days of the Tournament. Please record how many gameswere given and in the event that payment for fine(s) is made, please indicate on the Fine Sheet andinclude any payment received in your package.RULES SPECIFIC TO MINOR LACROSSEOLA Rules & Regulations: (MR8.12) Mouth guards are mandatory at all age levelsRULE 6 - Stick Lengths: In Peewee and lower divisions, the minimum length of the stick shall be thirtyfour(34") inches. Bantam and up divisions the minimum length of the stick shall be forty (40”) inches.RULE 11 – Facemasks: All players must wear a facial mask as approved by the CLA and the CanadianStandards AssociationRULE 16(c) Goalkeepers: This rule will not apply. No warm-ups will be allowed at any time.RULE 35 Butt Ending: In minor lacrosse, an attempted butt-end which does not make solid contact shallbe penalized by a major penalty and a game misconduct.9
2013 OLA TOURNAMENT GUIDELINESRULE 57 Kicking a Player: In minor lacrosse, an attempt to kick an opponent that does not make solidcontact shall be penalized with a major penalty plus a game misconduct.RULE 65 Spearing: In minor lacrosse, any attempt to spear an opposing player that does not makesolid contact shall be penalized with a major penalty and a game misconduct.If the above items are not sent in by seven days after tournament that centre will be subject to a$200.00 fine and may not be eligible to host a tournament in the following year.ZONE (OLA DESIGNATE) TOURNAMENT CONVENORTheir role is to oversee the operations of the OLA Sanctioned Tournament bySupervising registrations….Chairing discipline hearings…..Ensuring OLA rules of play arefollowedREFEREES AND GAME OFFICIALSALL REFEREES MUST BE CURRENTLY CARDED O.L.A. OFFICIALSIn Zone and Invitational Tournament play, the local Referee-in-Chief in conjunction with the Zone Refereein-Chief,will appoint referees who have been recommended and approved by the O.L.A. Referee-in-Chiefand/or O.L.A. Technical Director or his designate. The Local Referee-in-Chief, in conjunction with theZone Referee-in-Chief of any tournament must contact the Provincial Referee Assignor or O.L.A.Technical Director as soon as sanction has been granted.During the 2013 season the Corporation Referee in Chief has approved the use of local club officials forany and all games.The designated tournament Referee-in-Chief works in conjunction with the tournament host to approval allassigned tournament referees.NOTE:The designated tournament Referee-in-Chief must be an O.L.A. referee and/or supervisor in goodstanding.10
