A wood floatfinish is preferred. Smooth steel trowel finished concretemust be mechanically abraded to increase adhesion.EXPANSION JOINTSMovement joints should be incorporated in the tile layoutand in accordance with AS3958.1 clauses 5.4.5.1 to 6and/or BS5385.MIXING20kg of Prontofix powder requires approximately 5 litresof water which produces 14 litres of mixed product. Add ameasured amount of clean water into a clean containerand sprinkle Prontofix powder slowly into the liquid withconstant stirring. Eliminate lumps. Mix to a thicktoothpaste consistency. Allow to stand for 2 minutes thenremix. The adhesive is now ready to use.APPLICATIOINApply the mixed adhesive to the prepared substrate usingthe appropriate notched trowel for the size of the tilebeing laid. A minimum of 1mm bed thickness for wallsand 3mm for floors must be achieved.Ensure that the bedded tiles are fully supported by theadhesive with no voids underneath or behind. Lay tilesinto the adhesive before it skins. The adhesive may also<strong>PRONTOFIX</strong> PAGE 1 of 2.


need to be applied to the back of the tiles toaccommodate the required levels. Do not disturb tilesuntil the adhesive has dried. Commence grouting after 2hours when tilework is firm.GROUTINGUse the appropriate <strong>Bostik</strong> grout, allowing joint widths of1.5mm to 6mm for walls and 3mm to 12mm for floors asper AS3958.1-1991 clauses 5.4.6.CLEAN-UPcleanse thoroughly with soap and water.• In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately withplenty of clean water and seek medical advice. Ifswallowed seek medical attention immediately - donot induce vomiting.FIREProntofix is non-flammableProntofix can be removed from the surface of the tilesusing a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet. Toolsand equipment can be cleaned with warm water anddetergent prior to adhesive drying.COVERAGE3kg powder per m 2 using a 6mm x 6mm notched troweland 6kg powder per m 2 using a 12mm x 12mm notchedtrowel.PACKAGING20kg paper bagsSTORAGEProntofix has a shelf life of 6 months from date ofmanufacture when kept in a dry store in the original,unopened bags.All material shall be stored under cover in a manner thatwill prevent damage preferable on pallets and protectedfrom excessive heat and moisture. Do not freeze.PRECAUTION• Not suitable for plasterboard.• Not suitable for fibrous cement sheeting.• Not suitable for flexible substrates.• Must be mixed with <strong>Bostik</strong> Megalastic liquid forareas where vibration, shrinkage or tile growth mayoccurHEALTH AND SAFETY• Prontofix contains cement powders which, whenmixed with water or upon becoming damp, releasealkalis which can be harmful to the skin.• During use, avoid inhalation of the dust and contactwith the skin or eyes. Wear suitable protectiveclothing - eye protection, gloves and respiratoryequipment (particularly in confined spaces).• The use of barrier creams to provide additional skinprotection is also advised.
