technical data sheetCEMCRETECONCENTRATE SBR LATEX MODIFIER FOR CONCRETE /MORTAR / PLASTER / FLOOR TOPPINGSDESCRIPTIONCemcrete is a multi-purpose high performanceconcentrate synthetic SBR latex bonding agent andmodifier for concrete, mortar, plaster, floor toppings an tileadhesives etc.USESCemcrete is a waterproof superior quality copolymer latexwhich will substantially improve the performance ofconcrete and mortars used for repairs, floor toppings andrenders. Ideal for bonding monocottura and fully vitrifiedtiles as well as natural stone, marble, granite, slate andceramic tiles onto concrete, plaster, concrete blocks, fibrecement sheets, particle board, old ceramic tiles etc.,when mixed with sand and cement.FEATURES• Ready to use from container – simply add to themixing water.• Improves adhesion markedly.• Resistant to water when dry.• Allows thin section application and feather edging.• Reduces shrinkage.• Improves abrasion, chemical and impact resistance.• Resistant to dusting.• Increases flexural and tensile strength, and highearly strength.• Reduces water permeability, protects againstcarbonation.• Excellent bonding agent for new to old concrete.• High flexibility.TYPICAL PROPERTIESColourWhite milky liquidTypeStyrene butadiene copolymerTotal Solids >45%Viscosity @20 o C35 – 150 mPa.sSpecific Gravity 1.02 g/cm 3pH 7.8 – 10Solubility in WaterDispersibleBond to Concrete>1.5 MPaAPPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSSURFACE PREPARATIONIn all applications it is important to ensure that thesubstrate surface is clean and free from dust and loosematerial. Old paint should be removed, as should oil, grease, wax, curing compounds and surface laitance, etc.Mechanical methods of preparation such as shot-blasting,scabbling, grit blasting etc. promote excellent adhesion. The substrate should be pre-dampened (preferably dampbut surface dry) and a slurry coat of 1 part cement to 1part Cemcrete (by volume) and water as required, applied briskly, brushed into the cement. The plaster ortopping etc. is applied while the primer is still wet or tacky(approximately 20 minutes).PLASTERING:A typical plaster mix of 4 parts sand, 1 part cement andCemcrete diluted with water at a rate of 1:4 can be used. This will use approximately 1 litre Cemcrete per 1 m 2 at athickness of 15mm.FLOOR TOPPING/LEVELLING:The following mix design is suitable for up to a 12mmthick floor topping or levelling screed for use as anunderlay for tiles, vinyl or carpet. For thicker applicationsuse a modified mix with larger aggregate.3 parts of clean sand to 1 part of cement and Cemcrete, diluted 1:2 with water. Coverage is approximately 1 litreCemcrete per 1 m 2 at 8mm thickness (i.e. 8L yield).CEMCRETE PAGE 1 of 2.

TILING:For a tiling adhesive use 2 parts clean sand to 1 partcement and Cemcrete, dilute 1:2 with water. Can be usedin wet situations and with all types of tiles including fullyvitreous, monocottura and slate etc.CURINGCemcrete applications are cement based and in commonwith all such materials, must be cured in accordance withgood concrete practice. The use of polythene sheeting isrecommended for a minimum 7 days to prevent rapiddrying out. Alternatively a BOSTIK curing aid can be used(see appropriate technical data sheet).• For eye contact, flush with water for 15 minutes.Call a physician.• For inhalation, remove victim to fresh air. Call aphysician.FIRECemcrete is non-flammable and poses no fire risk.CLEAN-UPWash all equipment in water or water/detergentimmediately on completion of application and mixing.Clean drips, spills and smears while mix is still wet. Mixescontaining Cemcrete are extremely difficult to remove ifallowed to dry before cleaning.PACKAGINGCemcrete is available in 20 and 200 Litre Drums.COVERAGEContact your local Bostik office for coverage of Cemcretein different applications.STORAGECemcrete has a shelf life of 12 months from date ofmanufacture when kept in a dry store in the original, unopened bags. All material shall be stored under cover in a manner thatwill prevent damage preferable on pallets and protectedfrom excessive heat and moisture. Do not freeze.HEALTH AND SAFETY• Skin contact may cause moderate irritation anddermatitis.• Eye contact may cause severe irritation andredness.• Extensive inhalation of vapours may cause irritationto the throat, lungs, skin, and nose; nausea andheadache.• Ingestion may cause irritation to the mouth andstomach.• For skin contact, remove and launder contaminatedclothing.
