He blessed the members present and theSamaj to prosper in the years to come.Guru Jayanti160th birth day of Shree Narayan Guru Swamiji was celebrated at our Samaj’s officeon 21st September 2014. Members in large numbers attended the function.Distribution of scholarshipScholarship to the deserving students of our Samaj was distributed at our Samaj’s officeon 26th June 2014, in the presence of donors of Education Fund and members ofManaging Committee.Arogya NidhiDuring the financial year we have contributed to the medical expense an amount ofRs.10000/- from Arogya Nidhi to the needy member of our Samaj.Western RegionDuring the year under report Western Regional Committee had met 11 times to discussvarious issues. During this period the committee had strived to unite the members andconducted social activities mainly to attract the youth of our Samaj into the main stream.Our new year, Vishu Kani, was celebrated on 15th April 2014. Members, includingmembers of Managing Committee and sub-committees, attended this function in largenumbers and exchanged greetings. Shri Chandrashekar Belchada explained theimportance of this day in details.Satyanarayana Maha PujaAnnual Satyanarayana Maha Puja was celebrated by Western Regional Committee ofThiya Samaj on 15th March 2015 at Shree Sidhivinayak Mandir, Bhandrekarwadi,Jogeshwari East. Shree Vaikunth Bhat conducted this auspicious pooja through the handsof Smt. and Shree Padmanabha Suvarna, Vice-Chairman, Western Regional Committee.This programme preceded and followed by bhajana by Thiya Shree Bhagawati BhajanaMandali.On this occasion Shri Narayan Salian was felicitated by Shri Chandrashekar Belchadaby offering shawl, floral bouquet and memento in recognition of his service to the WesternRegion. Newly wedded couples were also blessed and offered floral bouquets by theelders. Senior members of our Samaj were offered floral bouquets by the ManagingCommittee members.Kum. Ashwini P. Salian who scored 2nd Rank in B.Com and Smt. Hema Sadanand Amin,Advisory Board of Thiya Belaku were felicitated on this occasion.Shri Chandrashekar Belchada called upon the members to encourage our children byeducating them on our culture by inducting them in all cultural activities of our Samaj.M/s. Amin addressed the gathering and appreciated the hard work of Western Region inorganising such events. Suvarnadelivered vote of thanks.Ladies Wing – Western Region10th Annual day of Ladies Wing – Western Region was organised on 28th December2014 at Dr. M. Visveswariah Hall, Karnataka Sangha, Matunga, Mumbai. Thisprogramme was earmarked as “Stree Shakti for national building”. Shri ChandrashekarBelchada, President, Thiya Samaj, presided the function in the presence of Chief Guests–Smt. Latha Shetty, Chairperson, Ladies Wing, Bunts SanghaSmt. They opined thatit is the need of the hour to protect ladies and educate our children with our culture andrituals.On this occasion the well known businessman and philanthropher of our community, ShriRohidas Bangera was honoured and conferred the title of “THIYA KULA RATNA” inrecognition of his service and generous contribution for the entire Thiya Community.Shri K. P. Arvind, former President, Thiya Samaj, Smt. Divija Chandrashekar, Shri AilBabu, Smt. Chandra M. Suvarna and Smt. Vrinda Dinesh were felicitated, along withtheir spouse, on this occasion, in recognition of their services to our Samaj.To entertain the members a cultural/entertainment programme was arranged “KalaJagattu” lead by Shri Padmanabha Sasihithlu.36
