Editorial
This is one of the common questions being asked by parents
and students who want to develop career in today’s world
where without a proper education you are no where. Lakhs
of students appear for Board examination every year and this
question looms large on their minds as well as their parents.
If students or parents do not get proper guidance or come
under the influences of what others do, than under such
wrong career decision they end up with mess and spoil the
child’s career. According to my experience in the field of
education let me tell you what are this wrong influence career
decisions which leads to spoiling a child’s career...
Career chosen based on what others say:
Here the influencing factors are relatives, friends and
neighbours. Just like my neighbours ask everyone for
guidance in the same way many of our Thiya parents asks
their family, friends, neighbours and relatives which may not
be always correct for your child. What answer parents
receives are normally “My son did engineering and now he
is earning a handsome salary”. “After HSC my nephew joined
Computers field as there is a big demand for computers in
the future so you can take up a course in Computers” etc.
I am not saying don’t ask anyone about your child to do what
other are saying. After all it is your child who is going to face
future situation based on his/her decision so find out the right
interest and aptitude of your child.
Career choice based on friend’s choice:
After spending 10 years of schooling
many students feel that they will
remain with their friends forever, So
they intend to join the career what the
friends are going to do. But in this case
the career chosen may not be suited
as the level of the student is not up to
the required marks.
Wrong notions : People still under wrong notions even in this
fast expanding world, they think that Medical and Engineering
studies are highly prestigious. Many times it has been seen
that parents want their child to take up Science after SSC
irrespective of whether he / she would be able to cope up with
its syllabus or not. Even students getting low percentage in
SSC are admitted to Science colleges. This results into a
failure and then dropouts and finally switches over to either
Commerce or Arts stream.
Career based on Scholarship : Certain organisations just to
show their welfare activities adopt children for one year and
make the poor family feel that they will take responsibility of
their wards for the succesive years. They influence their
children to take medical or other expensive courses but after
one year, such organisation never come forward to take care
of the same students, which results to dropout of those
students due to lack of funds to pay their second year or
successive year fees. I am not saying that don’t avail for
scholarships but if any organisation adopts your ward then
see to that such organisations are genuine.
Choosing a career is a multi step process, before concluding
from your side try to find out your child about his/her best
aptitude, interests. If you are still not able to satisfy then
attend Seminars for career guidance after SSC / HSC which
many Schools arranges for their students or even many
private organisations arranges in their suburb. Go and attend
those seminars. Try to meet teachers as they are the best
ones to know about your child’s skills and capacity, finally
don’t hesitate to go in for career counseling, as it will be
beneficial for your child in the later stages of life to pursue
or go in for higher studies.
Most of the students I have seen go in for Engineering as
a career, but are confused as to start the career with Diploma
or HSC. I would suggest them if engineering is to be done,
then directly do diploma after 10th is good option. Engineers
having diploma background have an extra advantage in
career as they spend 6 years in engineering field as
compared to HSC + Engineer who spend 4 years in
engineering field. Also after HSC, getting into a better
engineering course is very tough as it requires very high
percentage in HSC and then very good percentile in CET.
As compared, after diploma, if you have better percentage
in last year, you get direct admission to 2nd year of
engineering and thus you are saved from dreadful 1st year
of engineering which is considered as the toughest year in
any engineering course because there is a drastic change
in the pace of study from HSC to engineering.

Career After 10th is one of the most
important stage in everyone’s life.In
this stage
students have to know and decide
that what they want to do after 10th.
There are many career options
available after completing the 10th
standard.

Career After 10th
Passing the class 10th is the
minimum qualification into the career
market. After this, the
natural option is going forward with
the plus two courses. However, if due
to any reason
it is necessary that you have to get
into a job as soon as possible, then
there are some
options for career after 10th as well.
Although limited, yet there are options.
Most of the courses after class 10th
are diploma courses. In today’s job
market, even the
degree holders find it difficult to get a
good job in the industrial sector. Life
will be
obviously tough for the diploma holder.
If you are quite a genius and you can
easily grasp complex subjects, only
then you should
apply for a diploma course. All you
have to remember that you have to
be so innovative
and enterprising that you can
ultimately use your knowledge to
create something great
for the society.
Unless you are able to do that, you
cannot be rich later on. We require
new entrepreneurs
who can shoulder the responsibility of
making positive social condition
through their work.
Anyone can be that person. The spark
is in everyone, whether you are a
diploma holder or
a degree holder. However, it will not
be going to be a smooth ride.
There will be huge obstacles in the
way. To pursue +2 is in fact the best
career option
after 10th. Plus two education opens
up many more doors of opportunities
for you than it
was possible after 10th.
However, if you are desperate to go
into business after class 10th itself
and you dream of
becoming a successful businessman
one day, you can go for it if you have
a vision to
follow. Perhaps the vision of success
is too much to ask from a 10th
grader, but if you
have determination to pursue your
dreams, you will succeed.
Perhaps you can do a diploma in
computer studies and get big in the
computer business.
Nobody learns computer in a lab, it is
all about practical expertise. Slowly as
you gain it,
you can pursue your dreams of career
after 10th.
Career After 12th Commerce
Choosing the courses after 12th

task for commerce
students who

When students searching for career

diploma courses and lots more.
Once you are done with 10th
standard, it is important that you
choose your stream very carefully at
class 12th so that you could pursue

mistake of taking up a stream that
they switch just after completing 12th

Chartered accountancy (CA) is one of
the toughest examinations and only
very rare percentage of students
clears the
examination. It is better if you choose
bachelor’s of commerce degree in
your graduation before you pursue Ca
examination.
Else if you are interested in business
you can take up course like Bachelors
of Business Administration (BBA) and
after that if you do Masters in
Business Administration (MBA), you
are sure to kick start your career.
Students with commerce background
also have a good future in banking
and financial institutions. You can
easily opt
for bank examination. As finance is a
core subject in commerce, it would be
helpful if you appear in banking
sector.
Students those who are really in hurry
to come into profession, can go for
short duration vocational courses.
There
are multitudes of vocational courses.
Courses like Computers, Hotel
Management, Nursing, Hospitality,
Interior
Decoration, Photography, Performing
Arts are very much in vogue.
You can also start your Career after
12th Commerce with content writing if
you have a good flair for writing. Also
professions like Wedding Planner,
Event Management could earn you
some great deal of money.
You can opt for distance education
while you are doing a job beside. All
you need is little dedication and
devotion to
excel in any field you are in.
