At Helen & DouglasHouse we believe that like parents, brothers and sisters need support too. The Elephant Club offers support for siblings ofchildren and young adults known to Helen & Douglas House.Often children and young adults are worried about discussing their fears and concerns with their parents because they don’twant to add to their worries. Having a safe place to voice their concerns can help the young person feel less anxious andless alone, especially if they know that they won’t be judged for how they feel.We can do this by providing a safe environment for siblings of children and youngadults known to Helen & Douglas House to share their feelings, whether it’sindividually with our Sibling Support Team or in a group with other young people. We recognise that every child and young adult is unique and we support themwith a range of activities. One mum said “One day my eight year old daughter came home from ElephantClub and said to me, ‘I met a girl today and she’s got a sister in heaven as well.’ Itwas great for her to see that she is not alone and that she wasn’t to blame foranything.”The Elephant Club is just one example of how your fundraising helps Helen &Douglas House.
