TIM FENDLEYTim Fendley founded Applied Information Group to push the boundaries ofinformation design. A central focus is making cities more understandable byproviding useful information, evidenced by projects in London, Glasgow,Brighton, Dublin and Vancouver. Tim’s work draws on his cultural andcommercial experience in environmental, editorial, identity and interactivedesign for clients such as Bosch, Ferrari, Graphics International, Gilbert &George, Glasgow 1999, Orange and Lexus. Tim was the lead designer of theBristol Legible City initiative. He has a passion for cities and mapping and amethodology that encompasses diagnostic testing in real situations mixedwith product design prototyping techniques. Tim’s recent interest has beento make sense of London, by initiating and leading the design of LegibleLondon, a capital-wide pedestrian wayfinding scheme, currently in pilotphase. When it is complete, it will be the most extensive of its kind in theworld.JOHN GALLAGHERJohn Gallagher is a journalist and author whose new book, ReimaginingDetroit: Opportunities for Redefining an American City, was listed by theHuffington Post as among the best social and political books of 2010. Bornin New York City, John attended DePaul University in Chicago and ColumbiaUniversity in New York. He joined the Detroit Free Press newspaper in 1987to write about urban and economic redevelopment efforts, a position hestill holds. His other books include Great Architecture of Michigan and asco-author, AIA Detroit: The American Institute of Architects Guide to DetroitArchitecture. John and his wife, Sheu-Jane Gallagher, live in Detroit alongthe city's east riverfront.PIERS GOUGHPiers Gough founded CZWG in 1975 with his partners. From early on thepractice built up a reputation for bold, imaginative architecture covering abroad spectrum of development and building types including schools,residential, offices and hotels, ranging in size from large scale urbanregeneration projects to the individual house and exhibition design.Principal buildings include China Wharf, Cascades and many subsequentbuildings in London’s Docklands; Clerkenwell, Soho and Bankside Lofts; TheGreen Bridge, The Glass Building in Camden; Westbourne Grove publictoilet and The Bling Bling building in Liverpool. Piers has lecturedextensively in Europe, North and South America, Australia and China. Hehas taught at Middlesex Polytechnic and the Architectural AssociationSchool and has been a visiting professor at both the Mackintosh School inGlasgow and the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology.He was appointed a CBE for services to architecture in 1998 and elected aRoyal Academician in 2002. He is currently a Commissioner of CABE.
