Itinerary<br />
MONDAY – We leave the West Country and begin our journey north, stopping for coffee<br />
and lunch en route and arriving at our hotel <strong>with</strong> time to freshen up before our first evening<br />
dinner followed by excellent entertainment.<br />
TUESDAY – The morning is free for you to familiarise yourself <strong>with</strong> your new surroundings,<br />
and enjoy some of the many facilities available in the hotel. Join us if you wish for an<br />
afternoon excursion to Shrewsbury, arguably the finest Tudor town in England, <strong>with</strong> its many<br />
half-timbered buildings, so typical of the Welsh marches and an impressive Abbey, still a<br />
place of worship today. With time to explore and have tea we return to our hotel for dinner<br />
& entertainment.<br />
WEDNESDAY – Join us today for a full day excursion to the historic city of Chester, the<br />
most complete walled city in Britain, where The ‘Rows’, black & white half timbered<br />
buildings above street level and covered walkways take pride of place. Chester’s famous<br />
city walls are fully walkable and offer a leisurely 2-mile stroll <strong>with</strong> a bird’s eye view of both<br />
the city centre and the distant Welsh mountains. Other worthwhile attractions include the<br />
10th Century cathedral and several museums. You may like to take a boat trip along the<br />
River Dee as well as browse the extensive shopping area and enjoy a leisurely lunch. We<br />
return to our hotel <strong>with</strong> time to relax before dinner and another evening of top class<br />
entertainment.<br />
THURSDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we make the short journey into the old salt town<br />
of Nantwich, one of the most attractive and historic towns in Cheshire. Today is market day,<br />
and you will have plenty of <strong>with</strong> time to browse the stalls and maybe visit the museum in the<br />
centre of the town which tells the story of Nantwich through the ages including Roman salt<br />
making, Tudor Nantwich's Great Fire, and the more recent shoe and clothing industries.<br />
There are also plenty of shops to browse and cafés to enjoy lunch. This afternoon we return<br />
to the hotel to enjoy the facilities before dinner and our final evening’s entertainment.<br />
FRIDAY – This morning we leave our hotel and begin our journey south, stopping for coffee<br />
and lunch en route and arriving back in the West Country early evening.<br />

A coastal resort in attractive Pembrokeshire, Tenby is situated on a narrow promontory<br />
jutting out into Camarthan Bay. Once a prosperous port, Georgian houses overlook<br />
the picturesque harbour <strong>with</strong> its generous sandy beaches.<br />
Owned by the same family for nearly seventy years, this excellent hotel enjoys an<br />
enviable position in the centre of the esplanade. All rooms are ensuite, <strong>with</strong> TV and<br />
tea & coffee-making facilities and some rooms benefit from spectacular sea views.<br />

MONDAY – We leave our home area and <strong>travel</strong> to Sanders Garden World for coffee,<br />
before continuing over the border into Wales and on to Abergavenny for lunch. We<br />
complete our journey to Tenby via the scenic Brecon Beacons, arriving at our hotel<br />
<strong>with</strong> ample time to settle in before dinner and an evening of entertainment.<br />
TUESDAY – The whole day is free for you to spend as you please exploring Tenby’s<br />
enchanting narrow streets. There are museums, shops, a good art gallery and a castle<br />
to visit, in addition to the chocolate box harbour. There are also plenty of cafés &<br />
restaurants to enjoy a leisurely lunch.<br />
WEDNESDAY – This morning we <strong>travel</strong> to Carmarthen, a neat little county town,<br />
encircled by the River Towy and full of pretty shops. Today is market day too, and you<br />
will have plenty of time to sample the local cuisine and maybe pick up a bargain! After<br />
lunch we continue to Laugharne – a quiet town on the Taf Estuary, where Welsh poet<br />
Dylan Thomas lived and is buried. His boathouse and writing shed, where he penned<br />
Under Milk Wood, are well worth a visit, as are the imposing castle ruins.<br />
THURSDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we make our way north, <strong>travel</strong>ling through<br />
the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, to<br />
Cardigan, a lovely market town at the mouth of the river Teifi, once one of the busiest<br />
ports in Wales. With time to explore and enjoy a leisurely lunch, we return via the<br />
world-famous Cenarth Falls where the salmon leap, and a stop in Saundersfoot, a very<br />
pretty harbour village, <strong>with</strong> time to browse the gift shops and enjoy tea.<br />
FRIDAY – Sadly we leave our hotel after breakfast and make our way to the Welsh<br />
capital, Cardiff. Whist here you may like to visit the castle and discover 2000 years of<br />
history in the heart of the city. Through the Norman Conquest to lavish Victorian design<br />
– all have left their distinctive mark on the Castle. There are also an abundance of<br />
shops to browse and restaurants to enjoy a leisurely lunch before we complete our<br />
homeward journey, arriving early-evening.<br />
