GARDEN OF ENGLAND<br />

England’s beautiful southeast corner well deserves to be known as the Garden of England.<br />

It is an area dominated by pretty villages, world-famous castles and spectacular gardens.<br />

A 3* superior hotel, set in extensive grounds next to Leeds Castle, offering all the modern<br />

comforts you expect. All rooms are ensuite, <strong>with</strong> TV, hairdryer, telephone, tea & coffee<br />

making facilities, radio and trouser press. A lift serves most floors, and the restaurant serves<br />

a generous buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. Leisure facilities include an indoor pool,<br />

Jacuzzi spa bath, sauna and solarium and gymnasium.<br />

MONDAY – We leave our home area and make our way east, stopping at Stourhead for<br />

coffee and Guildford for lunch. We then continue our journey to our hotel <strong>with</strong> time to settle<br />

in and maybe make use of the hotel leisure facilities before dinner.<br />

TUESDAY – This morning we visit the medieval cathedral city of Canterbury. Whilst here<br />

you will have time to visit the cathedral, a world Heritage site, seat of the Archbishop of<br />

Canterbury and scene of the murder of Thomas A Beckett in 1170. There are also many<br />

shops and restaurants to enjoy lunch. For the afternoon, we make the short journey to the<br />

Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Kent’s world famous mainline in miniature. Here<br />

at New Romney, we board a steam train for a picturesque journey to Dungeness. On arrival<br />

there will be time if you wish to take the short walk to the fishing beach and the old<br />

lighthouse and have tea.<br />

WEDNESDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we make the very short journey to Leeds Castle,<br />

considered to be the most beautiful castle in England, and once home to Henry VIII. Set on<br />

an island in 500 acres of beautiful parkland, you will have plenty of time to explore the<br />

castle, learn of its history, and admire the stunning views from the windows. You can also<br />

stroll through the immaculate grounds and gardens of the park estate, including the<br />

Cascade, Wood, Culpeper and Lady Baillie Gardens or lose yourself in the spiralling yew<br />

maze, and return to civilisation through an underworld grotto. There are gift shops to browse<br />

and 3 restaurants to chose from to enjoy a leisurely.<br />

THURSDAY – Join us this morning as we make the short journey to the spa town of Royal<br />

Tunbridge Wells. This attractive town is famous for “The Pantiles”… rows of shops behind<br />

raised arcades next to the medicinal spring. With time to explore and an early lunch, we<br />

<strong>travel</strong> on to the historic city of Rochester, where you will find a wonderful blend of ancient &<br />

modern, dominated by its fine Norman Castle, and cathedral. There is also a wide selection<br />

of speciality shops and lovely places to have tea.<br />

FRIDAY – Sadly, we leave our hotel and begin our homeward journey. We stop in Windsor,<br />

<strong>with</strong> time to browse the shops and enjoy a leisurely lunch. We complete our journey home<br />

to the West Country, <strong>with</strong> a comfort stop en route, arriving early/mid-evening.<br />

Blackpool – it needs little introduction! The Illuminations, Tower, Pleasure Beach,<br />

sand, shops, shows and trams… fun, fun fun!<br />

One of Blackpool’s best-loved hotels and widely known for its excellent food and<br />

hospitality. Each of its comfortable rooms is ensuite, <strong>with</strong> TV and tea & coffeemaking<br />

facilities. The restaurant serves an excellent selection of delicious homecooked<br />

FRIDAY – We leave the West Country and journey north to Blackpool, <strong>with</strong> stops<br />

for coffee and lunch en route, arriving at our hotel mid-afternoon, allowing you<br />

plenty of time to settle in and begin exploring before dinner and an evening free<br />

to spend as you please.<br />

SATURDAY – Join us if you wish for a morning’s excursion to Fleetwood Market.<br />

Selling a wide variety of gifts, goods and produce you are bound to find<br />

something of interest. The remainder of the day is then free for you to spend as<br />

you please, enjoying all that Blackpool has to offer… You may like to visit the<br />

Tower Complex, which caters for all ages, <strong>with</strong> its many attractions including the<br />

world famous ballroom where organists entertain throughout the day, and you can<br />

dance along to. There is also the Pleasure Beach <strong>with</strong> rides and shows for all<br />

ages, the Waxworks, the Zoo, three piers and the shops… to name just a few.<br />

SUNDAY – The whole day is free for you to continue to enjoy some of the many<br />

attractions on offer. After dinner this evening, we have a full tour by coach of the<br />

illuminations.<br />

MONDAY – After a leisurely breakfast, we begin our homeward journey, once<br />

again stopping for coffee and lunch en route, and reaching the West Country<br />

early evening.<br />
