20,000 th CoC
plant operator
The Contractors Mechanical Plant Engineers
(CMPE) are one of the most prominent and oldest
organisations for plant and equipment professionals,
having established themselves throughout the UK
during the 1950’s. CMPE has always contended
that their Certificate of Competence (CoC) was one
of the first, if not the first, competence certificate for
plant and equipment operators.
At a recent press conference event, Mr Chris Miller
who heads up the CoC management committee
announced that the scheme had just registered its
20,000th candidate. Mr Miller said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for the
CMPE and the CoC scheme, both of
which continue to grow from strength
to strength. We believe at the CMPE
that the CoC card scheme provides an
invaluable service to industry that other
card schemes cannot fulfil. The scheme
is a credit to our members many of
whom are actively engaged in the
continual development and refinement
of the scheme.”
Mr Miller also revealed that the CoC management
committee has recently revised a whole range of
supporting materials and brochures for the scheme
and using these, the CMPE plan to actively promote
the CoC throughout 2008.
Mr Miller said:
“We plan to host a series of around the country road
shows using the extensive UK network of CMPE
branches and national plant shows and events.
These are exciting times for the association and
we look forward to recording the next milestone of
30,000 registered operators.”
