Marketing Efforts Remain
Strong to Serve Community
The year 2012 has been one of change in the Marketing
and Admissions Department. One of our beloved and
long-time team members left her position with us after
an extended medical leave. Our search for a new nurse
case manager to step in at area hospitals led us to a very
capable and compassionate nurse, JoAnne Herzog, who
has already been a wonderful asset to the department.
Mary Jane Dale, our nurse case manager of the past
nine years, stays in all of our hearts and prayers as she
continues to strengthen and heal. Beside the major
change in our very well honed team, the Admissions and
Marketing Department also made a physical change this
past year and now calls a suite shared with the Social
Work Department its new home. The joining of the
two departments has only helped to better serve our
residents and their families.
The strong census at the Jewish Home is one thing that
has remained unchanged over the past year with an
average 98.7% monthly occupancy. Admissions over
the past year have included five residents coming
directly from the community with NJ Medicaid as payor
source. An average 53 admissions per month included
those requiring long term care, short term rehabilitation,
respite and re-admissions from hospital stays. The
appropriate balance of private paying, Medicare, private
insurance and NJ Medicaid recipients has been carefully
maintained.
Two of the most notable marketing endeavors of the
past year have been the representation of the Jewish
Home Family in our sister community, Nahariya, Israel,
during a Jewish Federation of Northern NJ’s Partnership
2gether sponsored trip in February, and the celebration
of the Jewish Home at Rockleigh’s ten year anniversary
in November 2011. As has always been the case, the
very best marketing is the combined efforts of the
extraordinary team which creates positive experiences
for our residents and their families.
Jewish Home Assisted Living
Continued Growth and
Accomplishments
Since 2007, we've watched JHAL grow, develop and
enjoy accomplishments in marketing events, census
growth — and perhaps our best achievement — building
a solid reputation in the community for providing
excellent care, and setting the bar for assisted living in
and around Bergen County.
Care and food are two important factors when deciding
on an assisted living facility, and residents and their
families provide positive feedback that we excel in both.
Although we experience loss due to natural aging, JHAL
maintains a higher census than that of other local
assisted living facilities. The majority of our new inquiries
continue to be referrals from our resident families — a
testimony to how happy families are with the quality of
care and attention their loved ones receive.
Memory Lane, our specialized dementia unit, one of the
only mild to moderate dementia units of its kind in the
area, continues to have a healthy waiting list. This unique
feature allows our high functioning dementia residents
to participate in regular lunch outings and bowling trips.
By maintaining a high functioning dementia unit, we
further our ability to keep our regular assisted living population
comfortable. This is very evident with the ability
of our assisted living population to keep their minds and
bodies strong as they take advantage of the new 92nd
Street Y programs and our LifeTrail Fitness System.
Keeping current has been a key focus of our marketing
in 2012. The year began with the redesign of all of our
print materials shared with potential families and professionals
interested in learning about JHAL. Along with the
other entities of the Jewish Home Family, JHAL introduced
a new, redesigned, user-friendly website.
The pride felt for our community, services, amenities, and
the success of our residents is obvious to anyone who
steps into our wonderful facility.
