Securing Our Financial Future
Tonight we are honoring Ary Freilich, an extraordinary
person who has reshaped our Jewish Homes into a
dynamic organization, well-positioned to meet the
challenges of our community’s future. Ary is a true
visionary who has dedicated the last ten years to refining
our focus, building our boards and providing us with
outstanding leadership. He is a wonderful role model
and we thank him for all of his efforts.
We also thank all of you, our loyal and generous donors,
for your exceptional support. During the past year we
again surpassed our previous fundraising efforts.
In fact, our signature fundraising program, the Boneh
Olam Annual Giving Program has continued to grow
year after year. This program, which started with only 19
participating families in 2003 has grown to over 140
participants in 2012. YOU — a generous community —
has provided over $1.181 Million in philanthropic
support through this program in 2012 alone… and over
$8.35 Million over the course of the last ten years.
Why is the success of our Foundation’s fundraising
program so critical?
• Your generosity filters down and is directed into our
operating budgets so we can benefit residents each
and every day and offer our services to those less
fortunate who might not otherwise be able to afford
the care they so badly need, either in our facilities or in
their own homes…
• It means hiring the best of the best with regard to our
professional staff because nothing less will do…
• It means offering extensive recreational programming
and providing excellence in nursing with ratios of
residents to staff above state averages…
What this all translates into is being able to look around,
each one of us, and see the smiles, happiness and
contentment of seniors enjoying every aspect of their
lives to the fullest extent possible.
While our Jewish Home Foundation has continually
grown to meet the growing demands of the community,
we recognize that there are many challenges that
confront us, particularly as social programs such as
Medicare and Medicaid succumb to unprecedented
pressure. The long-term viability of these social cornerstones
is in peril. Though our Jewish Home Foundation
may have a track record of success in filling the annual
budgetary needs of the Jewish Home at Home, Jewish
Home Assisted Living and Jewish Home at Rockleigh,
our organization currently doesn’t have sufficient financial
resources to stem the consequences of disruptions
in these programs.
The financial responsibility to prepare ourselves for the
future falls on our shoulders. As such, while the Jewish
Home Foundation will continue its efforts to meet its
annual responsibilities, we will embark this coming year
on focusing to secure the financial security of the Jewish
Home Family in the future. We know that we will be able
to count on a community that has always had a strong
vision of the future, and that we will be to achieve this
together.
We look forward to working together to achieve these
mutual objectives.
