The Rewards for Safe Work Practices!
The Basics Bonanza Safety Program wrapped
up on December 1, 2007. On December 3, our
Grand Prize winners were selected from the hundreds
of “Grand Prize Entry” tickets that were turned in.
We are pleased to announce our five Grand Prize
winning employees who were drawn from the entries:
Nelson Announces
Basics Bonanza
Grand Prize Winners!
Matir Noel Carcamo Region 466 $3,000
Greg Collins Region 460 $1,000
Ryan Bondy Region 461 $1,000
Garry Vest Region 466 $1,000
Jim Syverson Region 468 $1,000
While these employees hit the jackpot prizes, there
were thousands of other prizes awarded. Congratulations
to all employees who received a Basics Bonanza
ticket for displaying safe work habits and following
the principles of the Back to Basics programs.
Matir Noel Carcamo (left) receives his check
from general foreman, Ramon Garza. Needless to
say, Matir was extremely surprised and pleased
to be the grand prize $3,000 winner. That Grand
Prize Entry ticket he received for following our
Back to Basics rules really paid off. When asked,
as his check was presented, if it seemed real yet,
Matir quickly replied, “It will when I cash it.”
Ryan Bondy (right) looks very happy as his
general foreman, Jerry Mason (left), presents him
a check for $1,000. Ryan commented that receiving
an unexpected one thousand dollars during
the holiday season was an awesome surprise. He
went on to say that safety now has more rewards
than just going home healthy everyday. “I want to
thank my general foreman and Nelson Tree for enforcing
the safety rules that are keeping us safe.”
Jim Syverson (left) receives his $1,000 winnings
from his general foreman, Gary Higgins. Jim
thanks Gary and Anthony Herrera, his regional
safety specialist, for spending so much time
working with crews and educating them about
safety. Jim states, “Anthony does an excellent
job.” When asked how he was going to spend his
windfall, he replied that he would save it for a
rainy day. Wow, now that’s discipline!
Garry Vest just wants everyone to know how
fortunate he felt for the $1,000 prize. It could
not have come at a better time. Garry has several
little ones at home and the extra money made for
a very nice Christmas for the kids. He also used
some of the money to catch up bills. Nelson Tree
is glad to know those winnings went to such a
good cause.
Greg Collins says there aren’t words to express
how happy and surprised he was when he heard
he had won a $1,000 in the Basics Bonanza contest!
He took a lot of good-natured ribbing from
his co-workers on how he was going to spend the
money. His general foreman, Dave Kennedy, was
just as happy as Greg when he heard the news.
According to Dave, “Greg is really a good guy who
deserved to win.”
