Nelson Tree Participates in
American Red Cross Holiday Event
The Ashland Equipment Center
recently participated in the
American Red Cross Holiday Extravaganza
event. The event, which is
arranged by the Ashland chapter of
the Red Cross, is one of the chapter’s
largest local fund raising events.
Traditionally, the event features
holiday home decorations, craft
items and baked goods, which
are auctioned off. However, since
Nelson Tree first began supporting
this fund raiser in 2006, we’ve
chosen a less traditional approach
for our donation.
That first year, we utilized a
wheelbarrow and several items
from the supply warehouse, such
as a broom, scoop shovel and other
odds and ends. Our donation generated a lot of interest
from the gentlemen in the crowd!
With the support of our vendors, Nelson Tree
Service provided this custom lawn & garden tool
filled wheelbarrow to the American Red Cross as
an auction item.
For 2007, we again agreed to
support this important event and
provide an item for the auction.
With support from vendors such
a Bryan Equipment Sales, a leaf
blower was added to the bounty,
and Ahlborn Equipment provided
a variety of items tailored for the
home gardener.
Our collection of items was
impressive and our donation was
featured in a local newspaper article
promoting the event. When the
auction took place on December 1,
our item received a $700 bid!
Participating in this Holiday
Extravaganza event was a wonderful
way to support our local Red
Cross chapter in providing needed
services to those in our community. The Ashland staff
is looking forward to contributing to this unique fund
raising opportunity again in 2008!
