THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
2 WEATHERLY returned to competitive action in his latest and fared well to finish 5 th despite the year long absence. Brethour had his charge
prepped well after coming up with a 1:52.3 effort that included a :26.3 final quarter. The 4yo will be expected to improve second time out and he
should take advantage of the drop to the lower NW2 class. He looks very attractive this week and should offer a short price.
7 TWIN B SPORTSMAN returns to WEG a more accomplished and confident performer after a solid stint racing at Georgian Downs. The Cal
Campbell student posted his 2 career wins over his past 5 outings and has only missed the board twice all summer. His times over the 5/8ths
should translate to speed that will get him in contention at this level. I’m looking for him to challenge others for the place spot.
3 JAKE LOEWEN hasn’t been able to find success in three tries since returning to this circuit but that could change tonight as he earns a drop in
class. The 4yo still showed life at the end of his latest mile and will likely find that this group gives him a better chance at keeping pace. I think he
can start faster in here and keeping closer to the early leaders should peak his interest.
4 MIDNIGHT PLAY doesn’t boast encouraging form coming in and has been an underachiever over his first two seasons of racing. He did however
hang in there for a cheque against Grassroots company in his latest after missing three weeks due to sickness. Henry can get a lot out of a
performer and his presence could help turn this sophomore’s fortune around. I will tab him for the Superfecta.
WORTH A LOOK
(1) EVERY INTENTION added Lasix three back and has posted a trio of in the money results. The 3yo will look to use his momentum to gain a
share of the ticket in his return to WEG.
(6) ALONEINSPADES recently joined the Lasix program as well but could still use some more staying power. The 1:52.1 winner is capable of better
and with the right trip can be a top 4 player.
(8) CAJON LIGHTNING took advantage of the post relief in his latest to break his maiden in 1:53.2. The outside and move up in class will be a
challenge but a similar effort should keep him in the mix.
