THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
3 COULD IT BE MAGIC leads the Ontario sired contingent in the first Champlain division as she gears up for her first try against Grand Circuit foes.
The Kadabra filly has won 4 of 5 career starts including another sharp 1:56.4 mile over the smaller Georgian Downs oval in her latest. Her speed
has held up on this track and from the inside I think she will be tough to catch. Wayne Henry has a good one on his hands with this filly.
5 PENNIES FROM ABOVE couldn’t hold on to capture the final of the Pure Ivory but the Cantab Hall rookie continues to show promise. I’m a fan of
the way she can trot home and that finishing ability will come in handy as she tackles tougher company in the coming weeks. She comes from a
great family and I’m expecting her to get stronger and better with experience. Dustin Jones hands the reins to Jack Moiseyev tonight and she
should be considered a threat for top honors.
6 SILENT BUSINESS trotted home well in her latest but couldn’t advance from 4 th after the heavy favourite put up a leisurely :59.2 first half. The
Muscles Yankee filly looked the part of a top performer in a trio of starts at The Meadowlands and I don’t think she will remain winless for much
longer. She can close well and should be heard from down the stretch in here.
4 SILVIA won her try at Tioga Downs in her latest giving the Muscle Hill filly 2 wins so far. The 100k yearling purchase has been up and down
during her freshman season making it tough to back her with a ton of confidence. I think she’s capable of good things at the top level and any
performer from the Ron Burke juggernaut can’t be overlooked.
WORTH A LOOK
(1) HIGH HEELS kept her foes at bay in her latest to break her maiden with a win in the OSS Gold at Georgian Downs. The Jimmy Takter trainee
sports a pair of show results on this circuit and has the staying power to be in the mix from the rail.
(2) I WANT KANDY boasts a consistent resume through 5 career starts and has held her own in a pair of tries against Gold level fillies. It’s tough to
argue against her for a share of the exotics.
(7) ENCORE GOLD is a 1 time winner that has yet to miss a cheque during her career. She’s generally in the mix early and with a good trip should
make a play for the Superfecta.
(8) DANISH DARBY made a break in her latest to spoil her chances and will aim to rebound for John Bax and company. The Majestic Son filly
rallied for 2 nd behind Caprice Hill three back and can’t be ruled out as a threat for the ticket.
