Race 11 Selections by Chad Rozema
THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
9 SOAKING UP THE SUN finds himself racing for new connections for the first time after being claimed from his latest. The 4yo now calls the stable
of trainer Vic Puddy home and that’s an angle to pay some attention to. He’s found this class to be a good fit for his abilities posting a win three
back and always hitting the Super. The strong closer should get some speed to chase and it will be up to Filion to get him in the right spot.
4 TICKET TO ROLL improved as expected in his drop to this level last time earning a top 3 finish. The Auciello pupil kept his times up which are
better suited against this level of competition. The 0 for 22 seasonal mark is tough to back but he’s now found a group that is within his wheelhouse.
He deserves to be taken more seriously than in recent weeks.
10 SPORTS VISION sports a pair of runner-up results in as many starts since joining this claiming class. He was given the green light to race
upfront last week but couldn’t quite fend off the class dropping race favourite. Post 10 will be an obstacle but I believe his early foot can still land
him on or close to the lead. He should remain a contender for a top share if the trip works out.
8 MARS MAN is offered for sale for the first time after multiple failed attempts forced the hand of his connections. The Lis Mara colt has just one
runner-up result to his credit from 18 tries this year. He’s faced some fast OSS winners recently and was a solid 4 th three back. His speed will go
much further against this group and this is a good spot for him to regain some positive form.
WORTH A LOOK
(1) VEGILANTE HANOVER races with a claiming tag for the initial time as he looks to be more competitive. He’s been a steady earner lately and
should be considered for a share of the top 5 from the inside.
(2) ART OF DARKNESS passed a couple of rivals last week after a slow beginning. The post relief is what I’m expecting to help move him up the
board.
(5) PIER HO TEMPTATION figured to be a threat with the move inside last time but he couldn’t hold his position for a decent share. Hopefully
Jamieson will have more horse to work with this time around.
(6) LMC NUKULAR STRYKE rallied to finish 4 th against this group in his latest carrying over momentum from his win at Georgian Downs. The solid
closer could get some speed supplied from a pair of outside starters.
