Impact
VTB Capital was created by the VTB Group
to carry out investment projects. One need
hardly mention that the influence of the new
company is obvious, and it has been marked
for greatness. Mr. Corrigan is responsible for
the company's operations in the real estate
field and believes that the major event of 2008
was the successful consulting provided to AIG
Global Real Estate (AIG) and the Deutsche
Bank Commercial Real Estate Group (DB) on
the sale of Pokrovskie Kholmy to the Goldman
Sachs Company. Earlier in 2006 Mr. Corrigan
worked as the consultant for Hines in their
transaction with AIG DB. Another important
event was the transaction when VTB acquired
19.5% of Sistema-Hals (a development unit of
AFK Sistema).
Business under crisis
During the crisis, the banks have become
the main players on the real estate market.
However, instead money they are receiving
the keys to the properties of their debtors;
and VTB is no exception. On the other hand,
there is no doubt that large banks will survive
the crisis and will end up owning first class
development projects.
