Chanters We have survived Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s activities and parties. Hopefully everyone had a Merry Christmas and is ready for the New Year. We celebrated the New Year with a brunch on New Year’s Day at the Osman Shrine Center/Lost Spur. Chanters all showed up and had a great time with fellowship, food, champagne, and all the other things that go with that kind of celebration. Our Chanter Christmas party was a lot of fun. Everyone looked so nice in party wear. We had installation for the new officers, Jeff Keehn, President, Glen Ode to the Chanters’ Ladies Proudly penned by Marcella Strand Behind every good man There’s a good woman, they say And for Osman’s famed Chanters It does seem that way. O we are the Chanter Ladies, yo ho! We follow the Chanters wherever they go We give them their Fez Check their outfit is right Then on to the parade To cheer with great might. There’s Barb A. and Barb K. And Marilyn too Laura M. and Laura K. Do these name confuse you? We count on Diane to show us the way She’s been to parades by the dozens, they say Pat’s looking for Jack, He’s a big flirt, you know. Pat has to work hard To keep him in tow. Marcella and Kay are discussing their hostas The varieties they have are really a-lotsa Elaine describes all her traveling fun. And June says, “We’ve moved now, Thank goodness it’s done.” Marcella Strand gets a hug from Laura Meyer after she read her poem. Anderson, Vice President, and Bob Meyer as Secretary/Treasurer. You can dress them up but you can’t take them out. Chanters mug for the camera. best for 2012. It was an enjoyable time for all. Our Potentate and Divan Rep. were there along with the Chief Rabban from Zor Temple in Madison, Wisconsin, Larry Riemenschneider and his Lady. We were pleased to see them all. At the last Stated Meeting, one of our members, Gordon Eddy, received an award for being a 60-year member of Osman. Gordon has also been a member of the Chanters for 60 years! He does not need music to sing most of Jeff Keehn “helps” John Drake with his Fez. our songs – he just pulls them out of the computer in his head and sings away with gusto. What a guy! (And as a small person, he surely can eat!) He talked about a trip he took with Osman to the Jerry Lauderville congratulates Gordon Eddy on his 60 years as a Shriner. Imperial. It was about two weeks long, and the best part was that Osman paid for the whole trip for everyone. Provost Provost Meeting/ Dinner for Monday, January 16th will be held at the Little Venetian in Little Canada. Social hour is at 6:00 pm, dinner and meeting 7-9 pm. Todd Edwards, I would like to congratulate the Provost Officers that were elected last month for 2012. They are Captain Gary Winter; 1st Lt. Mike Brady; Sr. 2nd Lt. Mark Sandstrom; Treasurer 2nd Lt. Al Christofk; Secretary 2nd Lt. Todd Edwards; and Jr. 2nd Lt. Paul Kuehl. 1st Lt. Mike Brady will also serve as the Provost Chaplain. Osman Provost Unit annual dues for 2012 are due January 1st. Captain Anders is requesting volunteers to help with parking duty at the Osman New Year’s Day Brunch on January 1st at the Osman Shrine Center/Lost Spur, and the Osman Stated Meeting on January 3rd also at the Osman Shrine Center/Lost Spur, please contact him if you able to do so at ajhaugen@gmail.com or 507-649-1777.
