29/12 GEN MAN 1 GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT: NOMINATION FOR POSITION OF
PRESIDENT, LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF TASMANIA
(LGAT)
1) Introduction
The purpose of this report is for council to consider the nomination of Mayor
Barry Easther for the position of President, Local Government Association of
Tasmania.
2) Background
Correspondence was received from the Tasmanian Electoral Office
requesting nominations for the position of President of LGAT and also
membership of the General Management Committee for a two year period
from July 2012. Mayor Barry Easther currently holds the position of
President and has expressed interest in nominating for the again. As the
nominator, council must authorise the nominations.
Nominations must be received by the Tasmanian Electoral Office by 5.00 pm
on Wednesday 18 April 2012, therefore requiring council to authorise the
nomination at the 20 March meeting.
