MILLBURY BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE
The History Committee continues to work on the West Millbury tours and in promoting
Millbury’s “rich history”. Each of the schools has received several packets of Millbury historical
pictures which we hope will be used for many years to come as they help our youngsters to
understand their town’s past.
On June 11 th , the actual date of our incorporation, the schools are planning to have their own
birthday party. Many of the community service learning grants this year have had a Millbury
history or bicentennial theme. And each school is planning to enter a float in the parade.
In addition to the four main committees, two other committees were formed this year. A
Legacy Committee which is studying different ideas on how Millbury’s bicentennial can be
remembered for years to come. And, a Program Committee which will publish a program for the
entire year’s celebration with pictures as well as a description of the fundraising and
organizational efforts by the large cast of participants who have helped to bring this celebration
to a fruitful conclusion.
The work of the Millbury Bicentennial Committee continues. We are hopeful that the
auspicious beginning will continue throughout the year. With the continued support from the
community, there’s no doubt that this 200 th birthday will be long remembered by the town, its
residents and its organizations and businesses. We are very thankful for everyone’s contributions
and look forward to a successful culmination. Don’t miss out!
