China said on Wednesday
it had caught five suspected
Islamist militants after a
vehicle burst into flames
on Beijing’s Tiananmen
Square in what police
called a terrorist attack.
Authorities also
moved to tighten security
in the restive far western,
energy-rich region of
Xinjiang, where the
suspects are from.
The Xinjiangregistered
SUV involved
in Monday’s incident in
which five people were
killed was driven by

square, which has drawn
occasional protests since
1989 pro-democracy
demonstrations were
suppressed by the
military. Sources earlier
told Reuters it was a
suspected suicide attack.
“Police have identified
Monday’s incident at
Tiananmen Square as a
violent terrorist attack
which was carefully
planned, organized and
premeditated,” police
said, adding the three
people in the vehicle died
after they set the gasoline
on fire.
The other two people
killed were tourists. At
least 38 people were
injured.
Five people connected
with the incident were
caught just 10 hours after
the attack, with help from
the Xinjiang government,
the police added, all of
whom also have names
that suggest they are
Uighur.
Police said they had
seized Islamist militant
flags and knives from
where they were staying.

“As a common enemy
of mankind, terrorism has
no future, and is doomed

It’s not just a few. Now
it’s a spate of at least
six sexual assaults that
have been reported on
the University of British
Columbia campus in
recent memory, all of
which are believed to
have been carried out by
the same suspect.
RCMP now say that
a total of six incidents of
sexual assault have been
reported to authorities,
the most recent of which
occurred on Sunday.
In each case a young
woman walking alone
on campus is approached
and grabbed from behind.
The series dates back to
April. The entire case has
been turned over to major
crimes investigators,
RCMP announced on
Tuesday.
“These incidents are
extremely troubling. The
RCMP is using every
means available to quickly
identify and apprehend
this perpetrator,” Sgt.
Peter Thiessen said in a
statement.
The spate of assaults
has done some damage
to the reputation of the
otherwise top-notch
school.
Sexual attacks on
university campuses are
certainly troubling. It is
RCMP now investigating six sexual
assaults on UBC campus
a place where young men
and women can be found,
often at odd hours and
often distracted and alone.
But the issue is not a
campus problem. Hunting
grounds for sex offenders
are not chosen based on a
desire for higher learning.
They are chosen based on
the prevalence of targets.
And how do we
combat such attacks?
Awareness.
When a series of
sexual assaults were
reported in the Toronto
neighbourhood of Christie
Pits last year, local
residents held marches
and posted signs.
Police increased their
presence in the area.
In the end, a suspect
was arrested and the
attacks came to an end.
Some of the same steps
are already being taken in
Vancouver.
The RCMP says that
officers knocked on
hundreds of doors over
the weekend and added
more bike patrols.
The Ubessey campus
newspaper reports that the
university has launched a
program to provide escorts
for students walking
between buildings.

Federal inmates who
have been on strike
in prisons across Canada
since the beginning of
this month have called
a temporary halt to their
actions.
The prisoners walked
off their institutional jobs
after the government
reduced their pay by

In a letter sent to the
federal commissioner of
corrections, Don Head,
the inmates are asking
that officials begin
discussions with them
and their families over
the pay cut and other
changes underway in the

as law-abiding citizens,
my clients and other
inmates have much to
contribute to such a
discussion,” wrote Todd
Sloan, lawyer for several
inmate committees across

they believe that work
refusals, albeit required
in recent circumstances,
can be harmful to all
concerned if prolonged
without resolution.”
Sloan said they have

the only choice and the
workshop is intended
to give renters and
landlords their rights and
obligations.
The speaker was Gerry
Baxter, Executive Director
at Calgary Residential
Rental Association who
has conducted many
workshops and seen the
ups and downs in the
Market Place and the
changes in law.
Their are good tenants,
landlords and bad tenants
and landlords and bad
tenants and landlords
create a toxic situation
leading to legal action or
some kind of intervention.
Renters best situation is to
get everything in writing
signed and dated so there
is no dispute.

plugging up the drains
with clogs of hair and
plumbing backup and
perhaps small flooding,
who is responsible and
situations like this, the
landlord could perhaps
bill the tenant.
Another important
situation is insurance.
Many tenants do not have
insurance and best to
find out what is insurable
and some feel having
insurance is not for them
or too costly and its good
to check on even having
minimal insurance and
having it is better than
none as disaster can strike
at any time from fires,
storms etc.
We also talked about
rent increase and leases
and what happens should
an owner or landlord
sell the bldg before the
lease time is up security

JERUSALEN (AP) — Israel anunció
el miércoles la construcción de 1.500
viviendas en Jerusalén oriental, zona
que los palestinos exigen para su futuro
estado, pocas horas después de liberar a
un grupo de prisioneros palestinos como
parte de un acuerdo para impulsar las

Los nuevos asentamientos se
consideran un intento del primer ministro
Benjamin Netanyahu de contrarrestar
las severas críticas internas en su contra

Interior, Lital Apter, dijo el miércoles
que 1.500 viviendas serán construidas en

actor británico Nigel
Davenport, uno de los
intérpretes de la película
“Carros de Fuego”, ha
fallecido a los 85 años,
informan hoy los medios
locales.
Con más de 40 años
de carrera a sus espaldas,
Davenport apareció en
conocidos filmes como
la mencionada “Chariots
of Fire”, de 1981, “A
Man for All Seasons” y la
popular serie de televisión
“Howards’s Way”.
Davenport falleció el
pasado 25 de octubre si
bien los medios británicos
Fallece el actor británico Nigel Davenport
informan hoy de su
muerte, sin precisar la
causa. El actor trabajó en
teatro, cine y televisión, en
docenas de producciones
diversas, que van desde
obras de Shakespeare
hasta telenovelas para la
pequeña pantalla desde la
década de los 50.

trabajo más reciente
que hizo Davenport
fue la serie de intriga
“Midsomer Murders” y

Mucho
se
polemizado sobre las
reformas en Mexico,
reforma energetica, de
educacion, desempleo,
retiro, en fin, cada una
con sus pros y contras. Lo
cierto es que han causado
molestia en la gente que
desconcertada, desconoce
si funcionaran y que tanto
pueda afectar la vida de
los Mexicanos.
Debemos reconocer
que nustros gobernantes,
sea cual fuere la
denominacion politica,
estan haciendo un
esfuerzo por majorar las
condiciones de Mexico,
y prueba de ello son estas
reformas que han dado
tanto de que hablar.
Es imposible darle
gusto a todos los
habitantes de la republica
Mexicana, por supuesto
que habra quienes esten
de acuerdo, y quienes se
manifestaran en contra.
La verdad es que
cualquier cambio es
Mexico y sus reformas
tema de controversia.
D e s g r a c i a d a m e n t e
nuestros gobernantes
nunca toman en cuenta
la palabra de quienes los
llevaron al poder, y toman
sus propias desiciones.
Si tan solo se
tomaran la molestia de
hacer consenso con la
poblacion, en mi opinion,
habria mas equidad y
menos descontento.
Haciendo un pequeño
analisis sobre estas
reformas, me di cuenta
que mas del 50% de los
que se manifiestan en
contra, siquiera se han
tomado el tiempo de leer
para conocer el contenido
de las propuestas, y
desafortunandamente
esto es el reflejo del
atraso educativo que los
Mexicanos tenemos.
Ciertamente Mexico
nesecita un cambio
verdadero, y no se deben
tomar desiciones a la
ligera, tampoco puede
tener reformas capitalistas
cuando ni siquiera hemos
alcanzado ese estatus,
se tiene que buscar el
bien comun de acuerdo
con nuestro sistema, e
ir creciendo y erradicar
todos los bicios que
los mexicanos hemos
adoptado como parte de
nuestra cultura.
Ingredientes:
Aceite
500 grs. de Frijol Rojo
100 grs de cebolla larga
200 grs. de tomates frescos
500 grs. tocino (chicharrón)
400 grs. de plátano verde
1 plátano maduro
500 grs. de oreja de cerdo
sal a gusto
Frijoles rojos sabaneros
Paso 1: Lavar con abundante agua los frijoles y p oner en remojo los frijoles
durante 12 horas, cocinar 10 minutas en la misma agua, agregar la oreja de
cerdo en trozos. Cuando este todo tierno agregar los plátanos en trozos muy
pequeños , continuar la cocción hasta espesar, luego retirar del fuego
Paso 2: Mientras tanto preparar un guiso. Rehogar la cebolla picada fina,
agregar el tomate picado o rallado hasta que este todo bien sofrito. Incorporar
parte del sofrito a la preparación y reservar el resto. En el momento de servir,
preparar el plato con los frijoles, agregar una porción de sofrito y acompañar
de arroz blanco, tajadas de plátano maduro, tocino frito (chicharrón) y arepas.

Los trozos de los plátanos se desgranan con la uña , en trozos muy pequeños,
también se puede utilizar una cucharita.
