Canta al mar 2015 – Festival Coral Internacional October 21 – 25, 2015 | Calella/Barcelona, Spain Due to the great enthusiasm among the choral scene regarding the new festival Canta al mar 2012 INTERKULTUR will ensure that Calella will become the meeting place for choirs from all over the world on a yearly basis. Thus also in 2015 from Oct. 21 to 25. In general applies that the fantastic metropolis Barcelona will be an attractive part of this festival. Either as venue for the competition and friendship concerts or simply as destination for a day trip. 3.5 kilometres of sandy beach as well as its location directly at the Mediterranean Sea and close to Barcelona make Calella a popular European travel destination. During the choir festival numerous friendship concerts will take place in the contemplative old town with its Catalan flair. All concert and competition venues as well as accommodations and other event locations in Calella are situated within walking distance. Thus attending concerts and other events can be combined perfectly with a placid stroll through the historic old town. Here choirs will meet, celebrate and sing together and get to know other nations and their traditions. Mixed, male, female, children’s and youth choirs can participate in the competition in established categories and different levels of difficulty. Special attention is given to the categories “Folklore“ and “Pop“. No category will require compulsory pieces so that all participating choirs can choose an appropriate repertoire and perform in front of the jury without major restrictions. Alexandr Ryzhinskiy nació en Siberia Occident<strong>al</strong>,<br />

en 1981. Recibió sus primeras enseñanzas<br />

music<strong>al</strong>es como miembro del coro<br />

juvenil masculino "Nighting<strong>al</strong>es", en Omsk,<br />

Siberia. Además, durante sus estudios en la<br />

Escuela Music<strong>al</strong> de Omsk (1996-2000), tuvo<br />

la oportunidad de dirigir este coro. Del año<br />

2000 <strong>al</strong> 2005, estudió dirección cor<strong>al</strong> en la<br />

Academia Music<strong>al</strong> Gnessin de Moscú. En<br />

2008, defendió su tesis dedicada <strong>al</strong> estudio<br />

de la música cor<strong>al</strong> de Schoenberg. Este artista<br />

lleva impartiendo clases en la Academia<br />

Music<strong>al</strong> Gnessin desde el año 2009. Fue<br />

<strong>al</strong>lí donde fundó la agrupación de música<br />

contemporánea “Altro Coro” con objeto de<br />

promocionar a compositores occident<strong>al</strong>es y<br />

nacion<strong>al</strong>es (de los siglos XX y XXI) todavía<br />

por descubrir. A lo largo de su trayectoria,<br />

el “Altro Coro” ha interpretado, en diversos<br />

conciertos, obras de A. Schoenberg, S. Gubaidulina,<br />

A. Pärt, J. Tavener, H. Holliger, L.<br />

D<strong>al</strong>lapiccola y otros compositores. Este coro<br />

ha ganado diferentes competiciones cor<strong>al</strong>es<br />

internacion<strong>al</strong>es y en 2014 le fue concedido<br />

el premio cor<strong>al</strong> Franz Schubert.<br />

Además de su trabajo pedagógico y de su<br />

contribución como director cor<strong>al</strong>, A. Ryzhinskiy<br />

se dedica a escribir artículos relacionados<br />

con el estudio de la música cor<strong>al</strong> y las<br />

tendencias vanguardistas en Europa Occident<strong>al</strong>.<br />

Alexandr Ryzhinskiy was born in 1981 in West<br />

Siberia. He received his first music<strong>al</strong> education<br />

as a member of Choir of boys and young<br />

men "Nighting<strong>al</strong>es" (Omsk). During his training<br />

in Omsk music<strong>al</strong> college (1996-2000) he<br />

was a choirmaster of this choir. From 2000 to<br />

2005 he studied choir conducting at the Gnesins’<br />

Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. In<br />

2008 he defended the dissertation devoted to<br />

studying of Schoenberg’s chor<strong>al</strong> music. Since<br />

2009 he has been teaching at Gnesins’ Russian<br />

Academy of Music in Moscow. Here he<br />

based The Gnesins’ Ensemble of contemporary<br />

music «Altro coro» for the promotion of<br />

unknown western and domestic composer's<br />

compositions of the XX-XXI centuries.<br />

During his history the choir executed works<br />

by A. Schoenberg, S. Gubaidulina, A. Pärt, J.<br />

Tavener, H. Holliger, L. D<strong>al</strong>lapiccola and other<br />

composers in various concerts. This choir is a<br />

winner of different internation<strong>al</strong> chor<strong>al</strong> competitions.<br />

«Altro coro» is owner of a Franz-<br />

Schubert-Chor<strong>al</strong>-Prize 2014.<br />

Besides pedagogic<strong>al</strong> and choirmaster's work<br />

A. Ryzhinskiy writes articles devoted to studying<br />

of chor<strong>al</strong> music of the West European<br />

vanguard.
