Canta al mar 2015 – Festival Coral Internacional October 21 – 25, 2015 | Calella/Barcelona, Spain Due to the great enthusiasm among the choral scene regarding the new festival Canta al mar 2012 INTERKULTUR will ensure that Calella will become the meeting place for choirs from all over the world on a yearly basis. Thus also in 2015 from Oct. 21 to 25. In general applies that the fantastic metropolis Barcelona will be an attractive part of this festival. Either as venue for the competition and friendship concerts or simply as destination for a day trip. 3.5 kilometres of sandy beach as well as its location directly at the Mediterranean Sea and close to Barcelona make Calella a popular European travel destination. During the choir festival numerous friendship concerts will take place in the contemplative old town with its Catalan flair. All concert and competition venues as well as accommodations and other event locations in Calella are situated within walking distance. Thus attending concerts and other events can be combined perfectly with a placid stroll through the historic old town. Here choirs will meet, celebrate and sing together and get to know other nations and their traditions. Mixed, male, female, children’s and youth choirs can participate in the competition in established categories and different levels of difficulty. Special attention is given to the categories “Folklore“ and “Pop“. No category will require compulsory pieces so that all participating choirs can choose an appropriate repertoire and perform in front of the jury without major restrictions. Catedr<strong>al</strong> de Barcelona<br />

La Catedr<strong>al</strong> de la Santa Cruz y Santa Eul<strong>al</strong>ia,<br />

también conocida como la Catedr<strong>al</strong> de Barcelona,<br />

pertenece <strong>al</strong> estilo gótico y <strong>al</strong>berga la<br />

sede del Arzobispado de Barcelona. Fue construida<br />

entre los siglos XIII y XV, res<strong>al</strong>tando en<br />

ella su fachada neogótica que fue construida<br />

a fin<strong>al</strong>es del siglo XIX sobre el discreto exterior<br />

tan típico de las iglesias cat<strong>al</strong>anas. En cada<br />

sección de las naves, se pueden observar dos<br />

capillas rodeando la basílica en su tot<strong>al</strong>idad.<br />

El tejado de la catedr<strong>al</strong> destaca por sus imponentes<br />

gárgolas que representan una gran<br />

variedad de anim<strong>al</strong>es, tanto re<strong>al</strong>es como mitológicos.<br />

La catedr<strong>al</strong> fue reconstruida entre<br />

los años 1968 y 1972. Los Conciertos de la<br />

amistad se celebrarán en esta catedr<strong>al</strong>.<br />

The Cathedr<strong>al</strong> of the Holy Cross and Saint Eul<strong>al</strong>ia,<br />

<strong>al</strong>so known as Barcelona Cathedr<strong>al</strong>, is<br />

the Gothic cathedr<strong>al</strong> and seat of the Archbishop<br />

of Barcelona. It was built from the 13 th<br />

to 15 th century and in the late 19 th century<br />

the neo-Gothic facade was constructed over<br />

the inconspicuous exterior that was common<br />

to Cat<strong>al</strong>an churches. There are two chapels in<br />

each section of the naves, encircling the entire<br />

basilica. The roof of the Cathedr<strong>al</strong> is notable<br />

for its gargoyles, featuring a wide range of anim<strong>al</strong>s,<br />

both domestic and mythic<strong>al</strong>. From 1968<br />

to 1972 the cathedr<strong>al</strong> was restored. Friendship<br />

concerts will take place in the Cathedr<strong>al</strong>.
