The graph in Figure 3 shows the monthly methanol usage before and after the retrofit. Over time, the methanol dose dropped to the stoichiometric value, thereby indicating that a true hybrid filter had been created. Figure 4 demonstrates that this installation was able to achieve the predicted reduction in methanol to nitrite ratio as discussed in the preceding sections, and expresses the methanol dose based upon the amount of influent nitrate. The graph plots the ratio of methanol fed to the influent nitrate, in lb-methanol:lb-nitrate. Based upon the breakdown of nitrate in an anoxic reactor, the theoretical ratio should be 3:1, which is highlighted on the graph.
