EXPLAINING THE BENEFITS THAT THE
NATURA 2000 NETWORK BRINGS TO PEOPLE
Basis for the proposal:
Using the example of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and linking
this case to Natura 2000 Network. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment
has shown that the economic, social, cultural and political development
of the present and future generations depends on the correct
functioning of ecosystems.
The invisibility of the monetary value of ecosystem services (direct and
indirect contributions to human welfare) has fostered an inefficient use
of nature that ignores that its conservation is key to the maintenance of
our economic system.

We would be talking about, for example:
• Including content regarding the environmental services that a well
maintained biodiversity rends, when informing.
