tutor to create great pictures, in a relaxed, friendly

Over the nine weeks various aspects of oil and
acrylic painting will be covered. The emphasis will
be on exciting and experimental techniques. The
course is structured with topics and themes set
each week. A clothed model will be used for two
weeks giving students the opportunity to tackle
portraits and figures. All abilities welcome.

HISTORY AND PRACTICE

A friendly, relaxed and informal class that looks at
art history finding out how art masters developed
their work, how they used colour, form and
composition. We look at one movement or period,
then delve into each artist, and look at how we can
put this into practice.

We look at linocut and print making. This class will
introduce the basic skills of linocut from designing
your image to cutting your block and printing. In
addition you will have the opportunity to
experiment with mark making, colour and collage.
There will be an additional cost of £10 for
materials payable to the tutor.

An improver’s watercolour class aimed at
introducing a more structured method of working,
visiting more adventurous techniques, and
generally adding more fabric, weight and polish to
one’s work.

PENCIL PORTRAITS

Over the nine weeks a series of portraits will be
completed. Likeness, profiles and principles of
proportions will be covered. Water-soluble pencils
will be covered and other media such as acrylic and
mixed media will be looked at. All abilities
welcome.
