A Message from Circle K Governor Jessica Cook
Hello, Florida Key Club!
My name is Jessica Cook and I am honored to be serving as the
Governor for the Florida District of Circle K International. Circle K is
the collegiate branch of the Kiwanis Family, with more than 14,000
members in 19 countries. We have 14 active clubs in the Florida District,
and during my term we are working to increase that number!
I graduated from Hollywood Hills High School in 2011, where I
was an active member of Key Club. I decided to continue my journey in
the Kiwanis Family because of the awesome CKI members I met at the 2011 Key Club DCON.
I’m so grateful for the members who encouraged me to join Circle K because I have made great
connections and friendships that will last a lifetime through this organization.
I am currently studying accounting at the University of South Florida in Tampa. When
I’m not studying or doing something for Circle K, I’m probably watching Gilmore Girls, painting
my nails, or taking a nap.
This year for my Governor’s Project, I have asked CKI clubs in Florida to focus on removing
the non-native and invasive plant species from the parks in their community. The
health of the native plants in our communities is vital to the success of our ecosystem, and this
is something I have been working with for about 10 years. Circle K clubs are encouraged to remove
the non-natives, plant native species, and educate their communities about this environmental
issue.
In addition to working with invasive plant species, the Florida District of Circle K is
planning to build 7 new clubs and increase our membership by
about 20%. We also hope to have record-breaking attendance at
our district events and increased participation in Kiwanis Family
events.
