82 CHAPTER 4 Fly Me to the Moon, 1960–1974 Human Spaceflight By far the most exposure for the NASA logos has been generated by the NASA human spaceflight program—the suborbital flights of Project Mercury, the challenging docking maneuvers of Project Gemini, the Moon landings of the Apollo Program, the launch of the Space Shuttle Program, and the evolution of the International Space Station. Whether worn as a patch on an astronaut’s suit, affixed to boosters and space vehicles, or used as a backdrop during press conferences, the emblem is an integral part of NASA’s program. The photographs that follow show the presence of the insignia during highlights of the human spaceflight program from this era. FIGURE 4-10.
