This should be done with caution because during a juice cleanse, or liquid diet, you don’t consume anything but Juice for one to five days. Juice cleansing gives the body a break and helps it detoxify and repair. Even if you eat healthy and exercise you can benefit from doing a cleanse to flush out the toxins that are hidden in your cells, tissues, and organs. After the holidays or an alcohol filled weekend is also a good time to cleanse the body. When you cleanse you replace meals that are processed and full of junk with clean healthy food. You are giving your digestive system a break and resetting it. To do a juice cleanse you should pre-cleanse a couple days before by eliminating all the inflammatory and processed foods from the diet. Some of these foods are and not limited to Alcohol, caffeine, corn, milk, eggs, gluten, red meat and sugar. Eliminating these foods a few days before allows you to drink large quantities of juice without shocking your body, especially for beginners. Making the decision on how many days to do a cleanse is up to you. Never do more than your body can handle. Try it out for a full day and see how you feel. Extend it to three days. Maybe the next time you can do a 5 day cleanse. If you aren’t ready to do a juice cleanse then juice all day until dinner. Have a sensible dinner to give your body fuel to replenish. There are many cleanses out there that you can do for various days and different recipes. I would make sure to find a cleanse that is for beginners as these tend to have juices with more calories and include soups and smoothies. Cleansing can cause side effects in the beginning from detoxing such as headaches, changes in digestion, skin breakouts, irritability and weight changes. Do not exercise while doing a cleanse. Your body is receiving less calories than it’s used to and any extra calorie burning activities are a recipe for disaster. Always check with your doctor to give you the okay on starting any cleanse. September is World Alzheimer's Month By Michelle Seitzer Every 67 seconds someone develops Alzheimer's. Someone's grandpa. Someone's husband. Someone's brother, best friend, or boss. That someone's world is forever changed by an Alzheimer's diagnosis, and around the world, families are forever changed by this devastating disease. September is World Alzheimer's Month, and many people around the world wear purple to honor someone with Alzheimer's on September 21st for World Alzheimer's Day. But on October 1st, when World Alzheimer's Month is over, things don't go back to normal for families impacted by Alzheimer's Disease. Things stay the same, or they get worse. For a caregiver of a person with Alzheimer's, the days are just as long and hard after World Alzheimer's Month is over. There is still no cure for Alzheimer's, still no effective treatment to keep the symptoms from interfering with one's daily life, one's lifelong memories. But there is something you can do if you know someone who has Alzheimer's - whether it's World Alzheimer's Month or not. Reach out. Offer encouragement to the person living with Alzheimer's, or support for their caregivers. Alzheimer's has changed your life and theirs dramatically, but that doesn't have to change your relationship. If you know someone who isn't sure what to do about a recent diagnosis, or someone who is worried that they may need to be diagnosed, tell them to call the Alzheimer's Association Helpline. It's free to call, and someone is available 24-7, 365 days a year, to answer questions and point to resources. You can also visit alz.org on the web to learn more. The chapter is presenting a Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines on The Grandeur of the Seas, 11 days/10 nights, February 21-March 3, 2015.
