Octoberfest at Bangor Park<br />

Octoberfest this year will be held at Bangor Memorial Park on<br />

Saturday, October 11th <strong>and</strong> Sunday, October 12th. <strong>The</strong>y are<br />

looking for groups to participate in the themed, carved pumpkin<br />

display. Maybe you own a business <strong>and</strong> you have a group of<br />

employees that would like to get together to carve some pumpkins<br />

to enter in the display. You can pick whatever theme you would like.<br />

You can search for ideas on the internet. <strong>The</strong> only cost to enter is that<br />

you have to buy your own pumpkins. A group of themed pumpkins<br />

should have at least 6 or more in their display. <strong>The</strong>re will be cash<br />

prizes awarded for the top 3 best group of themed, carved pumpkins.<br />

Our scarecrow making booth is in need of adult size small or youth<br />

sized clothing such as old pants <strong>and</strong> shirts. We are also in search of<br />

volunteers to help in all aspects of the event. Volunteers are needed to<br />

help with selling tickets, collecting tickets at booths, running booths,<br />

helping to set up <strong>and</strong> clean up the pumpkin displays <strong>and</strong> working in<br />

the food st<strong>and</strong>. For more information or to volunteer contact Sherry at<br />

Bangor Elks Halloween Parade<br />

<strong>The</strong> Bangor Elks Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday,<br />

October 16th at 7:00 PM. <strong>The</strong> year's theme is "<strong>The</strong> L<strong>and</strong> of<br />

Oz". Parade Participants may register at Bray's Newsst<strong>and</strong>, 36,<br />

Broadway, Bangor, Heard's Meat Market, 501 S. Main Street, Bangor<br />

or the Bangor Public Library. <strong>The</strong> SIGNUP DEADLINE is Saturday,<br />

October 11th at 3:00PM. Late sign-ups will be held at the Bee<br />

Hive Community Center on Thursday, October 16th, at 5:00 PM. All<br />

participants will meet <strong>and</strong> line up at the Bee Hive Community Center<br />

<strong>and</strong> Merchants Bank, 191 Branch. Group <strong>and</strong> float participants<br />

will be notified a few days before the parade with their line up<br />

information. C<strong>and</strong>y may be h<strong>and</strong>ed out to the children by walking<br />

along side your float or group. Please do not throw c<strong>and</strong>y from your<br />

float or car! Prizes will be awarded after the parade at the Elks<br />

Lodge on Broadway. Hot dogs <strong>and</strong> drinks will be served.<br />
