round-table blues discussion and
hit it off. They began playing every
chance they got. Their only goal
was to deliver the blues as authentic
and genuine as possible. Both
are well versed in blues, folk, and
Hill Country music, and they have
learned to make a cornbread salad
of it all. It seems to be just right!

Austin Blues Society
Trimmed and Burning entered the
Austin music scene in 2010 after
having relocated from Boulder,
Colorado. The two seasoned musicians
share a love for the Deltainspired
blues music that was first
recorded in the early 1920s. Ben
Stevens has been labeled a revivalist
of traditional blues, and a
master of the rhythm and bottleneck
slide stylings characteristic
of Delta music. Known for gutsy,
passionate, and refined vocals,
Skye Downing weaves an introspective
story line into a soulful
outcry with ease. Here to deliver
you into the arms of “the devil’s
music,” Trimmed and Burning
proudly brings you stripped-down,
soulful, bare-bones blues. Listen,

Mikey Ethelston

Wayne Holden and Mikey Ethelston
hail from southern Ontario.
Holden brings a unique voice and
energy to every performance, with
solid guitar skills and an intensity
that will lock you in for an entire
show. He is a pure, unapologetic
bluesman. Ethelston is a seasoned
harmonica player and a true entertainer.
His skills and experience
are evident in each note he plays.
