Coins for the Country Me and My Country, We Grow Together A Civic & Social Responsibility by Silver Oaks International February 12, 2016: Shri Y S Chowdary, Honorable Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences on behalf of Silver Oaks International School handed over INR 11,00,000 to educate the underprivileged. Shri. Y S Chowdary lauded the effort of the School to have inculcated the civic and social responsibility in its students. He observed that the School in its true sense was transforming its citizens for a better tomorrow Me and My Country we grow together is a mission driven into the hearts of the students and staff at Silver Oaks International. The School inspires its students by emphasizing on how each one of us can play a role in nation building. Just like every drop makes an ocean, every coin can help the country grow is the belief behind the initiative of Coins for the Country. The School believes that meaningful education can better the country. Children from 4 to 17 years are encouraged to save or earn coins in earthen pots. Running errands at home, working during weekends at Libraries, cutting down on their expenditure from the pocket 31
money they receive are some of the different ways in which the students collect coins for their country to grow. Teachers are not the ones to be left far behind, they mentor, train teachers and develop curriculum at the underprivileged school at RDF and NICE and save to donate with generosity for our Country to grow and prosper. “On a sustainable basis since 2006, the School has raised funds for the NGO -Rural Development Foundation (RDF) and from 2015 for NICE. RDF runs schools for the less privileged in about 6 villages in Telangana where more than 2000 children are enrolled and toNeedy Illiterate Children Education(NICE).The amount of funds donated have increased exponentially from INR 30,6150 in 2006 to INR 11,00,000 in 2016. In a decade the amount quadrupled and more than that the resolve of the School to act upon their civic and social responsibility is cemented in its foundation, “said the Principal of the School Ms. Seetha Murty.
