Powerful focus with hands on and minds on Goals are set by all of us to accomplish those targets which are a little beyond what we think we can achieve. Setting goals gives us a longterm vision and short-term motivation. It helps us to organize our time and resources to accomplish way beyond what is expected of us. For these reasons, we as a school also believe that goal setting is highly important and hence, every year we set goals to challenge and push ourselves beyond limits and achieve greater heights. This academic year our goal is “POWERFUL FOCUS WITH HANDS ON AND MINDS ON”. The aim is to focus more on “doing learning” and stimulating minds to think, for better learning,for a learning that lasts. We as educationists understand that the ultimate aim of learning is not just understanding a concept or scoring well in a test, it is way beyond that. It is how one applies what he/ she learns in the classroom in daily life. Hands on and minds on approach, we feel is essential for holistic learning and building lasting knowledge. This approach lets the students “do” and “think”, two very integral parts of the whole learning process. Researches have shown that students learn best when they can see, touch, hear and do. “If I learn something “hands on and minds on”, it would mean I give it my full attention and do it with complete focus. Therefore I feel that the skills I learn through this approach would remain with me lifelong” - Says a student. Being passionate about teaching, we always try coming up with new methods of making the whole teaching learning experience more effective, meaningful and fun. But the hands on, minds on approach has hands down, shown us the best results. This form of learning encourages students to be investigators, to find their answers and to become more independent learners. Since they are engaged with both their hands and minds, it helps them develop a deeper understanding of the subject. This teaching - learning methodology also makes the classrooms a more fun place since the focus is not on theoretical learning from textbooks but on actually doing and learning. All this topped with Focus makes it so much more relevant and meaningful, Focus brings in the concentration it demands attention. Every year when the goal is set it carves the path and plans the direction of our academic endeavors. Which in other words we could say, “POWERFUL FOCUS WITH HANDS ON AND MINDS ON”.
