MILESTONES 2015-16

Silver Oaks Turns Publisher with the Book Launch of Historia
2015, I would say, is a very memorable year for quite a lot of reasons. Apart from my
completion of Grade 10, there are other things that I felt proud of. What I am referring
to here, is the publishing of my book, Historia by my own school. The journey of its
making was itself serendipitous and its publishing was even more of that. I did not set
out to write a book as such. A couple of short stories later turned out to be a couple of
chapters which then became a book. Once my manuscript seemed ready and complete,
I typed it out to have it published via an e – publishing system. I felt a need to have
my mentor, Mrs. Seetha Murty Ma’am write a foreword to my book. With my fingers
crossed, I waited hoping for a positive response. And what I got was much more than
that. The Principal and Director replied that they were more than happy to have my book
published. “Published, for real?” was my obvious response. Then things happened at an
overwhelmingly swift pace. Before I could even realise it, 1000 copies of Historia were
out and a formal book-launch took place at Saptaparni Venue in Banjara Hills. That one
week will be a stepping stone for the rest of my life. All that I take pride in would be
absent if it were not for my school, my Principal and Director, and its staff. I cherish those
moments that I had, for they made me.
